I have never done any kind of soft mods or any alterations to my Wii besides getting a Wiikey installed 2 years ago and updating it a few times via disc.
I don't have the homebrew channel or anything.

I would just like to know the easiest way for a complete n00b to get this to work. I have an SD card if necessary.
Should I start by downloading the Qwiif release?

I don't know what USBloader or Gamma or anything is. At all

I'd love if someoneeeee could help a girl out please. I'm reading about softmods and Gamma and how to get the homebrew channel, but I'm not sure what I need and what the best method for playing this game is on my setup.
Well first you should start with getting Homebrew installed. It's really simple, just look up a tutorial on youtube, and there should be some really well made tutorials that can help you get it set up. Once you have that set up, you'll have to download a few different wads and applications, you should also look up tutorials for these, as they aren't easy to explain and there are plenty of tutorials online to help you. Once you get all that figured out THEN you can worry about getting the Gamma Loader app installed. Since you have a chipped wii, you're going to want to look specifically at this guide for that method of playing this game. But start with getting homebrew set up on your wii, then you can ask more questions haha.

Any update for us disc-loader folk? I'd like to play the game, but even after patching and installing the .wad file, I still can't play it.

I've been out of the loop for tooo long.
Copied game 1:1, shows up on Disc Channel, but resets when I hit Start. Is there no answer yet for hard-mod only, dvd-r people?

No hard mod fix yet as I know it.
I have Wii Key original with firmware 1.9s, Wii firmware is 4.2U
I downloaded the QWiiF version and applied the IND patch (just changes the Main.dol file)... I get a black screen that says "An error has ecoured..." and I have to reset the system. Before the IND patch the game would play for a few min and then crash.

Well, I just tested out the new WiiFlow 1.1 R21 (just came out about 3 hours ago) and it works with the NTSC NSMB. (Wiiflow on an SD card and ISO on an external HDD)

    I'm in the same boat.
I've got a wiikey v1 - 1.9S, and a 4.2U system menu (didn't read about protecting my system menu version prior to the update)
I tried the quiff-NTSC version, and it kept stopping after some levels
Then I tried the iND (?) patch, and the game just doesn't load anymore
Not sure if wiikey will make an update for v1, or how to get around this without a homebrew update.
Anything I can do to set myself up for success?
    Thanks

So basically the only way to play this game without updating to 4.2 is through a softmod???

I have a hardmodded system using D2Pro chip. Console is NTSC 4.1U. I am using the NSMBW QwiiF release and i applied the iND main.dol FIX. I burned the new image (qf-nsmbw.fixed.iso), inserted the disc and it kept popping up that i needed to do a system update which i did not do. Thats when i tried to install the IOS53-64-v5406.wad as suggested in this guide. After the wad was installed, it still kept showing System Update in the Disc Channel. by this time i ran the utility disc for my D2Pro chip and disabled the system updates option. The next time i ran the disc, the System Update icon in the disc channel was gone and I was able to run the game. I thought everything would be ok by now, but when i started the game, i get the "error occurred, eject disc, turn off power" message.

If there is a way to play this game via MODCHIP can someone let me know because i could not get it to work. The only way i got the game to act right was to install the latest neogamma. Im just a little ticked off that i had to go this route to get the game working. I mean after all the modchip should handle it with no problem...

    Feedback would be greatly appreciated.

I think us hard modders just need to sit and wait... something will come along eventually either through a game patch or chip firmware.

I have got the NTSC patched DVD version working on my hard modded Wii. I'm using a D2Pro and System Menu 4.1. Here is what I did

    1. I was getting the Black error disc screen
    2. So I Updated to 4.1 through the NSMB disc
    3. Still got Black error screen
    4. Ran Dop-IOS through Homebrew Channel so that I could patch IOS 60
    5. Sill got Black screen
    6. Here is where I went a different way than the guide. The IOS 53 wad supplied in the guide did not work for me. So I tried downloading and patching IOS 53 through Dop-IOS (Dop-IOS showed a different version of IOS 53 than the one listed in the guide)
    7. My NSMB DVD now worked. I played through the first 3 levels to make sure there was no crashing.

Now I don't know if updating to 4.1 through the disc helped or not. The main thing that made the difference was updating and patching IOS 53 through Dop-IOS rather than using the IOS 53 wad linked in the guide.

    Hope it helps.
