I tried running the .bat file in fix #3, but I end up getting a 0 kb size file iso.

    anyone else getting this problem?

    Question

I have a soft-modded Wii, 4.1u. I purchased New Super Mario Bros Wii.

What is going to happen when I just put the retail disc in the Wii and play? I assume it will ask to update, if so, can I update with no negative effects to my softmodding? If not, what can i do to avoid any negative effects?

I'm content with just playing off the retail disc for now (won't bother ripping it with USB Loader GX... not sure if that would work anyways).

    Any insights would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance (and don't worry, I'll thank everyone who helps me too )

if you install the IOS linked in the 1st post, then it shouldn't ask you to update. Updating from Disc on a softmodded wii is never recommended.

Yea. I'm using the qwif release.

I also tried doing the main.dol patch. and usb load as well as burning it onto a dvd-r, and using neogamma. All my tries have ended up in a black screen and an automatic reset.

I just want to verify that you were refering to IOS53-64-v5406.wad

and for that I'd just use that wadmanager program and install like any other wad, and I should be able to play NSMB from the disc without it asking for an update?

ok, extract files to same folder as your iso (iso MUST be called qf-nsmbw.iso) and all files in same directory. then run the .bat file, its not quick, you should see a cmd window pop up and do all its stuff. when its finished, you should have a new file called qf-nsmbw.fixed.iso.

took about 7 or 8 minutes on my pc, so depending on your specs it could take quite a while.
