I am getting the black screen "An error has occurred" when loading from sd or usb hard drive. What am I doing wrong here. This is the first time I have tried to load from sd/usb drive. I am using 4.1u with IOS53-v5406 and NeoGamma R8Beta7 installed. Maybe I did something wrong. Any help would be great thanks.

    An error has occurred

Looks like several people have similar symptoms to mine.

NTSC Wii w/ WiiKey 1 (1.9s firmware), burned NSMB QWiiF release (NTSC), boots fine but bombs randomly between levels 1-2 and 1-3 with a black screen saying "An error has occurred" ... please reboot, etc.

Almost like a dirty disc error but the drive is not struggling at all. There is no sound of an attempted read it just halts. Burned on 2 types of media that have never failed me, and at 2.4x.

I'm running the latest Wii firmware that shipped with NSMB, installed off the disc, so I'm assuming at least 4.x (not near my console right now).

I just installed USB/SD loader wad then I formated the SD Card to put the game. When I boot it with SD loader I get green screen, this is NTSC version. Do I need to have SD loader on the SD card or should it be working since it's a channel?

Edit: Just tried the patched pal version too, get green screen.

Ok...maybe yall can help me....and please take it easy on me as I am a newbie here...I have searched this thread and forum and I am still unsure...but i did search.

I have WiiKey 2...so hardmodded. I have the qwiif release that has been patched via a batch file that was released (i believe it simply did what the op showed in this thread manually). Is that all I need to do for it to play? simply play it from dvd? I see everyone talking about neogamma loader and all that kinda stuff but I dont have any of that as 9 times out of time i simply burn and play...but before I tried that I just wanted to see if i am missing anything that is required to play this. I had one person tell me to go ahead and update my wii via the online update to the latest version first and not let the disc do it but im not sure. Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

This is from the guide on the first page..

    ModChip Users:
-Try NeoGamma R8Beta7, which should be able to run the Game without any patches needed (Thanks WiiPower!)
-Or download and Install IOS53 and your System IOS (3.2-IOS30, 4.0/4.1= IOS60, 4.2=IOS70) and patch them with the Trucha Patch. Use DOP-IOS for this, and play the fixed ISO. You'll need a Wii that is connected to the Internet!
