Hello, I'm new to homebrew. I recently had a friend install the homebrew channel for me. I am currently trying to install NSMB Wii. Here is what I have.

    Firmware 3.2U

    On my 2GB sd card:
    Neogamma 7
    wad manager 1.5
    USB loader gx 1.0
    Wii flowR25_249
    a few cios (ios36-64-v1042.wad ,ios53-64v5406.wad)
    I also have cios36_rev10.dol and cios38_rev14.dol

I have a patched New_Super_Mario_Bros_Wii_USA_Wii-QwiiF using New_Super_Mario_Bros_Wii_USA_main.dol_FiX_Wii-iND on a Kingston GB usb drive formated with WBFS Manager 2.5 (this seems to be okay since it says 0.36GB)

Here is the problem: I followed the earlier guide and downloaded and installed neogamma 7 and ios53-64v5406.wad and selected ios249. When I loaded neogamma it would check for the usb device, give me a 30 second countdown and return to the previous screen. Earlier, the program told me to update to cios rev 14 (I was using rev 7) in order to avoid compatibility isuues. So I downloaded CIOS uninstaller and uninstalled any cios. Next, I attempted to install ios36-64-v1042.wad (which is rev 10 I presume; I hoped to get this working before trying rev 14). However, since running the uninstaller, I can no longer choose ios249 as an option and although installing it as anything else (ie ios53) gives me the message that its finished, when I run the CIOS uninstaller again it says there is no CIOS installed.

The problem now is that I don't see an option for ios249 and all the loaders (neogamma. usbloader gx, Wii flow) require it.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

When I put the disk in my wii I can see the mario logo in the disk channel and it wil go as far as the next screen but then I get a black screen. is there something that I do wrong?
I use verbatim -dvd 2x speed with imageburn

    Any help would be apreciated

    -- Edit --
Looks like the patched version runs from various usb loaders without problem

If anyone's interested i've also modded a couple of wii with sunkey modchips updated to its latest firmware and nsmb unpatched disc runs.
    -- Edit --

okay i'm stuck here, little help please.

got a pal wii 4.1e with wiikey 1.9s and hbc latest version

    - what's working :

following the tutorial i managed to get bahamut unpatched nsmb disc working thru NeoGamma-R8v15 by simply installing cIOS38rev14 and using the search patches.

unfortunately it looks like that wii dvd is dying as i'm getting "disc read errors" on various games so i'm trying to go to usb.

    - what's NOT working :

i installed usb loader gx and managed to get it working by installing Hermes cios222v4 although i thought it was supposed to work with cios249v14 which is installed and detected by us loader gx boot sequence but still complains about cios222.

Anyways i installed my nsmb bahamut and a wii music disc on a usb stick thru usb loader gx, wii music starts okay but snmb keeps freezing (requires wii power off) at a black screen after the controler setup screens.

Tried some option tricks but no luck so far, same thing when launching from NeoGamma USB.. i'm still unsure if you must specify a specific ios to boot usb games or not, i assume i only have ios222 and 249 properly installed ?

Am i missing some other ios/ciso installs, i really don't want to go on installing tons of things i have no idea what they really are needed for.

i assume my usb setup works as wii music boots, but nsmb doesn't work probably only because of that new protection scheme which doesn't see to be handled by my usb boot..

i'll try a patched version too when i got some more time..

    thx for any input

How does it go? I have now double checked the guide, and even redone some parts. (I saw there was some new file in part A.)

I have also installed priiloader and done a NAND backup, and I am now more secure about all the steps then I was when I first followed the guide. =)

But I can still don't play NSMBW. Not with my chip, not with NeoGamma. It's like the same thing happens with both methods.

When in neogamma, I stands NeoGamma R8 beta 15, and ios249 rev14. I guess that means that all my steps have worked? I can also play other games then NSMBW.

What can it be that prevent my NSMBW to run on my wii?

    /Söder

EDIT: In BootMii it sais I have SysMenu: 4.2E boot1c boot2v4. Is that OK?

I can confirm that it works! You have to have older version than 3.2.... I learned after 2 days....after updating with wii sport resort it works great!!

    "ModChip Users:
Or you can try the newest NeoGamma R8Beta, which should be able to run the Game without any patches needed. THE ISO MUST BE UNPATCHED!"

Does this work for PAL also? I have a PAL with 4.2E and NeoGamma R8 Beta15, and ios249 rev15, and I can't load the game. The screen goes green for 2 sec then the wii restart.

It also doesn't work when I try to run the game with BCA data added to the iso and my d-right flatmod chip. The game refuse to start and the wii restart.

Prior to reading your post, nightstah, I did end up updating to 4.1U via: Waninkokos firmware updater 4.1. updated from GeckoOS 1.07b to 1.9.3. Launching it through there and it found the IOS53 for me. After changing priiloader settings it worked like a charm. I can launch through disc channel. 5 hours payed off, Yay! Thanks again for the help.

I got to ask one thing. Does the game need some kind of update, that is NOT the update to 4.2E? Seems like I'm missing something.
