    how do you:

    1. upgrade to ios53-64-v5406.wad?

    2. does upgrading to ios53-64-v5406.wad affect the playing of other games?

    3. after you upgrade to ios53-64-v5406.wad, do you need to tweak the game settings to make it work too??

    please reply!! thanks HEAPS
Some games need this IOS to run. Affect? Well without it, they won't run (an IOS is part of the Wii's Input/Output System, although that's not what the acronym is for). NUS Downloader is one way to get/install it (use wad manager). NSMB may or may not need tweaking beyond that, depends on a lot of variables more at your end than anything.

If this is above your head, read this thread for an easier explanation.

Could someone tell me what I am missing? Been trying different stuff for over 4 hours now . Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Likely you didn't do step 3 of that mod correctly; NG shouldn't reboot the Wii (it uses IOS 249 Rev 14). Have you tried other games with the old gamma launcher? If nothing works, repeat step 3 of that tutorial.

Honestly I don't know, I've been new to the Wii a week now, and have followed a few guides to get it softmodding and had a bit of trouble here and there but finally got it right after my first day, since then I've been happy with this community and my overall success in doing this stuff. Everything is working seemlessly, except NSMB on USB Loader GX, it works just fine on NeoGamma, but some games don't play on NeoGamma, but all do on USB Loader GX which is why I want it working on there and it's easier for my 6 year daughter to use.

The message I get is... "SMNP01.dol doesn't exist"

I have that file already but it's inside my NeoGamma folder on my SD Root

I've tried coping that file and putting into the usb-loader folder on the SD Root but that didn't work, I went into the setting also in USB Loader GX for the game and put alt.dol on USB/SD

I re-did step 3 as you advised, and I see what I did wrong the first time:

    Code:
    d) Run cIOS38 r14 installer, select IOS36 as the one it should use and then select wad install.
The target is automatically set as IOS249, rather than IOS36. Which is where I installed the cIOS38 on the first time. I now installed it on the 36, but the Neogamma r8b7 still green screens and restarts the Wii. Is this then due to me messing step 3d up, and if so, how do I fix that "minor" error?

P.s. thanks for your quick response.

Finally got it to work, I'm using a WiiKey 1.9u? (the one right before 1.9s since I'm too lazy to upgrade to 1.9s). I am also on the latest firmware 4.2U I think.

    1. Installed HBC
    2. Used GeckoOS with the cheats

I got to the castle in world 1 so far. Thanks for the help all. Btw, I tried numerous times with NeoGamma but think that method is way too complex plus modifying anything (IOS) to me isn't a good idea. Just my two cents!
