gazzaman5: 4.1 or lower should work. Try to install IOS53-64-v5406.wad too. Did you try to use the USB loader and get it working?

Then I use this youtube tutorial to allow the truncha bug. I believe this is also in the tutorials mentioned above. YouTube- Det1re's How To use Trucha Bug Restorer (TBR) ┬╗ check descr. for 4.2X.

Finally I used DOP-IOS v8 to patch IOS60 for my system 4.1 menu (so it doesn't crash the disc channel) and IOS53 for NSMB (so it doesn't crash when I hit start on the disc channel).

As always, this is at your own risk.
sorry to bother you - will this version of truncha bug restorer work on a 4.0e wii as long as i follow the video from youtube? i keep getting the black screen error when booting up mario on my sd card so may need to look into this

rnld: Truncha is used with a Hardware mod with a patch NSMB DVD disk to get it to play through the Disc Channel. Software mod with a patch NSMB DVD disk through the disk channel DOES NOT WORK with or without truncha. You should use the tutorials on page 1 to get it working though a USB loader or any one of the alternate methods in that tutorial. Truncha is NOT NEEDED for the USB loaders.

motleydude: You can try but I don't know if it works.

Shortly after writing my message, I seem to have gotten the New Super Mario Bros Wii to work, all I had to do was follow this stated quote below,

    New Super Mario

    [DISC LOADING UPDATE]

    <...>

    Patch: Soft Mod Disc Loading.rar

You need the QwiiF NTSC release of the game (UNPATCHED!)
Copy the contents of the Rar above to the same directory as your ISO.
    Run the .bat file.
    Wait!
    Burn your new ISO.
    Enjoy!

Hey guys, after you have your NSMB iso you have to rename(using F2 you can edit the name) the iso to qf-nsmbw before running the .bat file. Once you have change the name, double click on .bat file and wait until its done. Then you will have an iso named qf-nsmbw.fixedv2. This one you can burn it and play!

    <...>

One more thing you will need to have on your sd card root directory a folder name neogamma. This folder is for the main.dol called SMNE01.dol. After launchig neogamma, go to config option and change altern .dol to SD. Go back and launch the game. Enjoy!!
Presumably, I assume people would need to follow this tutorial instead of using WiiScrubber for those who want to burn to a disc. To clear things up (Hopefully), he told you to make a /NeoGamma/ directory, put the main.dol inside the /NeoGamma/ directory, and rename the main.dol to SMNE01.dol.

    Rename
    sd:/NeoGamma/boot.dol
    to
    sd:/NeoGamma/SMNE01.dol

I still stand by the statement I made a few posts back.

I've wasted 2 Memorex DVD-ROM Discs (DVD-R) like this and it's starting to bug me at how poorly the instructions are written. I don't mean to be harsh, but possibly a rewrite is what they need. Sure I can understand they are there for archival purposes, but it kind of confuses people sometimes, I believe.

    Here's my info:

    4.1U
    Wiikey 1.9s
    Waninkoko rev 14
    CIOS files all updated/trucha signed

(I'm able to play COD Modern Warfare using NeoGamma v7, so I think everything's updated.) Just to be sure, I used DOP IOS to reinstall IOS 53 (trucha signed).

I can't get NSMB working from disc no matter what I try.

    - Dowloaded ws_nsmbw_ntsc_fix.iso and replaced the main.dol using Wiiscrubber
    - Tried moving main.dol to SD and telling Neogamma to run alt dol.
    - Downloaded unpatched [Wii]New_Super_Mario_Bros_Wii[NTSC][Full_ISO][WiiSOS.com] and tried patching that one.

After patching, the disc channel still says "Wii system update". Should it still say that?

I've tried running the patched discs using Neogamma 7, 8 beta 7, and 8 beta 12. Disc could not be read on all, even with the alt dol enabled.

Any advice? I've been at this for a few days and read all the posts.

    TIA

I presume you still do. What I did was I downloaded the IOS53 and installed it via Wad Manager.
    IOS53-64-v5406.wad

I don't guarantee anything, but that's what I did to get my copy of NSMBWii working.

Thumbs up SD card Connection to WBFS lost, solution!

For people who tries to load the game from an sd card and get this error: Connection to WBFS lost. There is a solution. Put you SD card in a sd card reader and plug it into the usb on the wii.
Launch the game from neogamma r7 "usb channel"
I used this SD card reader http://site.spyville.com/Spy_shop_pi...d-reader-1.jpg

    Hope this helped.

yep you are the second person i have heard say they did this and it worked. the problem was not singled out to this particular game but for at least one other person on any game they treid and any other sd card or usb device they treid thanks for letting us know as even though it seems rare it does happen.
