I did exactly the same as urself. 5 days to my wifes frustration trying to install IOS and 002fix and no joy. Came across this tread and yourself and joy got it working with neogramma r6.

i'm on 4.1u system menu
Download and install "cios38 rev14 "
Download and install "cios 222 installer"
Download and install "configurable usb loader"
Run the cios38 rev14 through homebrew channel (i believe i had to choose the "network installation")
Run the cios 222 installer through homebrew channel.
1st: on ios 249, install cios 222 on ios 38 (default).
2nd: on ios 249, install cios 223 and merge ios 37 to 38.
3rd: launch "Configurable USB Loader" through homebrew channel.
4th: select guitar hero 5 by pressing (A)
5th: press 1 on the wii remote to enter the options for the game and select ios 223-mload
5th: press (A) again and ROCK!

I was doing both of these at the same time and copied the wrong instructions for beatles the first time.....
everything is the same except which ios to use.
Yeah What hocheystarusa says is totally right and this also will make usb loader gx work with the beatles rock band game just remember to set the ios to 249 and turn the 002 fix on. I also have the same softmod setup as him just use usb loader gx instead of config.
so is there somewhere to go so i can figure out how to merge ioses. having probs with a game that came out the same time and hoping that this patch will work. kind of off topic i understand, but i could use this knowledge.
I'm running a 3.2U Wii with ios249 rev 14.
Using NeoGamma R4 and NeoGamma R7 to run my games off of discs.
All my games titles work including Ghostbusters and Indiana Jones with the exception of, RB The Beatles and Guitar Hero 5.
I have installed ios56.wad through the wad manager channel.
All of my games still work with the exception of RB The Beatles, Guitar Hero 5 and now (Broken Sword no longer runs I get a DVD ERROR 1101 or 847 or 827 no matter what the settings are...)
CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP WITH THIS?!?!?
All games are NTSC-U
If I have to instal different cios or ios or different loaders will they run parallel with what I already have?
Will all my games still work?
taxaswiiman you need to be specific about what game you are talking about and what it is doing you may only need to setup the game load menu a certain way and make it work. jerseypage have you installed hermes 222/223 on your system it sounds like that is your problem. The only thing is that I don't think that you can use that with the frimware you have you may need to update your system firmware to 4.0 or higher to make it work. but check first if I am wrong. That patch should make those games work right. I'm sorry I just noticed that you are using backups I don't know how to make those work right I'm using a external harddrive with the usb loader gx and they all work fine for me. So good luck.

Slightly off topic - I have recently soft modded my wii but don't have any instruments. Now thinking of picking up some instruments or atleast a guitar for a bit of a laugh when friends come around and what with Christmas coming up and all that.
Although I know these type of games (Guitar Hero/Rock Band) are really popular, suprisingly I have never played any of these on any console or in an arcade but always fancied it especially with this version of Rock Band coming out as that music is really my taste. Couple of things I just need to know - really an idiots guide to the games -
-What do I need to play
-Are instruments compatiable with both types of games for example will a rock band guitar work with guitar hero and vice versa
-Where is cheapest place to pick them up as live in UK and only wanting instruments?
-I am running 4.0e is it likely I will encounter problems running this and GH5?
Did try searching the site but couldn't find anything

There are compatibility charts on the web that is the best place to compare.
As for me I got the Guitar Hero World Tour set (drums, guitar, and mic).
GHWorldTour instruments will work with all Rock Band games from Rock Band 2 and up. I would go with these instruments as these are the only ones I have used and they work just fine with both Rock Band games AND Guitar Hero games.

By the way, the rock band games are a little easier to play if you are just starting out and just want to goof around.

Did you use the Rock band 2 drums, I am ordering them online, and have version 4.0 with usb loader gx, I believe i use IOS 259. I am not sure if these drums will work but hopefully it sync's up and I am able to play with them. Since this is the only instrument i want to be able to work.
