Oh, believe me I *AM* wary of updates - that's why I'm posting here!
On a serious note, the game is PAL and my system is PAL (I thought that the E after the firmware version stood for Europe so didn't bother to elaborate. Sorry.) I just wondered what sort of update it might be, seeing as I only updated my firmware to 4.1 last week.
As far as my system goes, I installed HBC using bannerbomb, then after having problems getting various backup games to run, I followed a tutorial over at afterdawn written by Larrylje. Unfortunately, I can't link to it as he's now taken everything down, but the apps I used were:
cIOS38_rev14-Installer
cMIOS
wadmanager
IOS35.wad
IOS60patched.wad
NeoGammaR6-NGBL.wad
(Also DowngradeIOS35 and IOS Downgrader, but I assume those just just fixed my first attempt screw-up!)
I'd be intersted in finding out whether there's anything amongst that lot that would be affected by the Ashes system update.
Also, would the update install 4.1E on a virgin Wii with no wireless connection?
