for those of you still struggling to load GH5, here's a simple guide that worked for me with 4.1 and 4.2:

    - install cIOS56 wad (not IOS56)
    - run cIOS222 Installer (select IOS 249)
    - install custom IOS 222 - use IOS38 merged with IOS37
    - start cIOS 222 Installer again (select IOS 249)
    - install custom IOS 223 - use IOS38 merged with IOS60
    - run USB Loader GX
    - use the following settings: Video mode: Autopatch / IOS: 222 / 002 error: Anti
    - play GH5

I tried the last post's instructions for getting GH5 to run as well as all the other tutorials on here. What am I doing wrong? Can 4.2 not run GH5 off of USB?

I did these steps and I feel like I am on the right track. What should I have IOS 202 patched to (I feel like I might have patched it earlier following an out-of-date guide)? And what boot options should I use for which USB Loader? I am using 4.2

Once you have downloaded said files and put them in SD

    Installation procedure

    1. Remove all GameCube memory cards and controllers.
    * This step is very important. Do not ignore it .
    2. UnRAR uloader_v3.0C.rar and copy the apps/cios_installer/ directory to sd:/apps/
    3. Start HomeBrew Channel and start the cIOS 222 Installer
    4. Read the warning message and push A
    5. Select IOS249 to perform the install with D-pad left/right and push A
    6. Select to Install Custom IOS 222 and select IOS38 merged with IOS37
    7. Wait for download and installation to complete
    8. Start HomeBrew Channel and start the cIOS 222 Installer again
    9. Select IOS249 to perform the install again
    10. This time select Custom IOS 223 and select IOS38 merged with IOS60
    * IOS223 gives you an alternative option for merged IOS in this way. It is exactly the same as IOS222 otherwise.
    * Experiment with other merges or not merging at all if neither of the options provided here work for you.

Followed your steps then tried 223 in USB Loader gx. Still no luck I'm getting a black screen and a flashing led from my disc drive.

Did you try IOS 222 first like is says in the OP. You might have to try and load the game twice before it works I don't have this game so I can't tell if works on this game myself but that is what I did to get SSBB to work in USB loader GX.
