The Hermes cIOS 222 installer was updated a few days ago. It is now recomended to install IOS222 as IOS38 merged with IOS37, and installing IOS223 as IOS60 merged with IOS38. Guitar Hero 5 will now boot with IOS222 for USB HDD booting. If you downloaded the Hermes cIOS installer more than 2 days ago then go back to the link in the first post and re download the updated version. You must use the Hermes cIOS v4 for the changes.

While you are there, why not download USB Loader CFG and give that a try.

i just updated my usb loader gx to rev 7194
and now no more guitar hero 5 for me on my USB Loader GX
everytime i'm trying to load, i get this "eternal" black screen.
i tried every option; on, off
every patch, every mode, every fix, every cios (222, 223, 249)
nothing work, "LOL!" But it was running perfectly on rev718 (just before updating to rev719)

so i get back here and found a really usefull post by Stomp_442 about better compatibility:
    http://www.wiihacks.com/wii-custom-s...os-v4-out.html

*i was thinking at this time, if maybe i can make it run "again" on my usb loader gx if i update to new cios 222 v4

so i updated myself to new cios222 v4
    *installed as a charm!

But, NO GH5 on USB loader GX anymore for me now *hope this'll be fix soon )

The game work perfectly on USB loader CFG (configurable)
using setting: cios222 m-load *save and start

i'm wondering if there a "channel" for my system menu for USB Loader CFG
it's a really nice loader the picture quality is even better, and you can turn your cover to see the back of the case! What can i need more!?! XD
*if there exist a channel.wad for this loader pls send me a link!

    ~Thanks to "Stomp_442" and "Demo777"! you really help me!~

    Thanks

    http://gwht.wikidot.com/hermes-ios222-223:

    What to download
•Hermes' uLoader installer. The latest version can be found from the 'Descarga' section of the post at this page
◦Version 3.0B is here which includes v4 of the IOSes.
    Offline installation
    >> Click to expand if your Wii is not online <<
    >> I don't need these instructions any more >>
1.Download NUS Downloader from this page on your PC.
2.Copy the contents of the NUS Downloader zip file to a directory of your choice which will be referred to as <NUSD_dir> from now on.
    3.Use NUS Downloader to get IOS37 v3612:
    1.Select title ID 0000000100000025 v3612
2.Ensure the Pack->WAD option is NOT checked
    3.Click Start NUS Download!
    4.Copy the contents of <NUSD_dir>/0000000100000025v3612/ to sd:/00000001/00000025/V3612/
    4.Use NUS Downloader to get IOS38 v3610:
    1.Select title ID 0000000100000026 v3610
2.Ensure the Pack->WAD option is NOT checked
    3.Click Start NUS Download!
    4.Copy the contents of <NUSD_dir>/0000000100000026v3610/ to sd:/00000001/00000026/V3610/

6.Continue with the steps of "Installation procedure"
    Installation procedure
1.Remove all GameCube memory cards and controllers.
◦This step is very important. Do not ignore it .
    2.UnRAR uloader_v3.0B.rar and copy the apps/cios_installer/ directory to sd:/apps/
3.Start HomeBrew Channel and start the cIOS 222 Installer
4.Read the warning message and push A
    5.Select IOS249 to perform the install with D-pad left/right and push A
6.Select to Install Custom IOS 222 and select IOS37 merged with IOS38
7.Wait for download and installation to complete
8.Start HomeBrew Channel and start the cIOS 222 Installer again
9.This time select Custom IOS 223 and select IOS60 merged with IOS38
◦IOS223 gives you an alternative option for merged IOS in this way. It is exactly the same as IOS222 otherwise.
◦Experiment with other merges or not merging at all if neither of the options provided here work for you.
Using IOS222/223 with Configurable USB Loader
•To set one of these as the default IOS for all games, add the line "ios=222-mload" or "ios=223-mload" to your config.txt.
•To select only specific games to use IOS222/223, select each game and push 1 and you will see an option to change IOS to 222-mload or 223-mload. The choice can be saved with the 2 button.

Am I really alone in this case ?

Still no feedback for my strange issue :'(

My Wii is PAL and I have an Argon chip inside. Tried to play GH5 but thereīs only the blackscreen...What do I have to do? DOnīt know anything about homebrow or something. Any patch to install or on SD?

    Partial Fix

Well, I've solved one problem but now have another.

I tried reburning the game on a DVD-R (not DVD+R as all the other backups I have have been) and now the loct1_error message I was getting is gone in Softmod. It does its work, applying what it needs to and then starts to load the game and...

Black screen. Have to manually reboot. I tried using Backup Launcher and it displays the game data like it normally would, but gets black screen as well.

    So my next questions are:
    1. I'm using the Shine release. Has anyone else confirmed that this a good/bad dump?

    2. Has anyone who has gotten the DISC method (not USB) to work had this problem? And if so, what did you do to fix it? I re-read this thread but it seems like no one who used the disc method had this problem.

Thanks again in advance for any help!

I am having the exact same issue. Which rip are you using? I am using the "sunshine" rip. Could it be a bad copy? Often, if I persist and restart the song a couple of times I can get through it without the song sticking and becomming badly out of sync. After it happening a couple of times in a row and a couple of song restarts I can play for an hour or more without it happening again.
