I think a lot of the problems are related to what system menu you have and cios versions
NeoGamma R5+ is compatible with Sam & Max, that's what this thread is about, NeoGamma is a usb loader too.

System menu version has nothing to do with game compatibility.

I am having the same issue... Wii resets using USB Loader GX, also tried loading from NeoGamma R8 beta 7, IOS349 (Rev 14) and still no luck. Game starts and when I click to load an episode the system resets itself..???
    Any takers?

NeoGamma RC5 does work with both Sam & Max Season 1 and Sam & Max Season 2 Beyond Time and Space. For Sam & Max Season 2, I managed to get this working today using NeoGamma RC5, loading off of the USB device, and renaming the RC3X.wdm (for Season 1) to RC3Y.wdm (for Season 2). I couldn't load the disc and play the episodes that way, but using NeoGamma, I didn't have to. I just loaded the episodes from within NeoGamma. Very cool! Loading the disc and selecting the episodes from the game menu just reset the Wii. Took me a while to figure it out, but I can verify it is possible to play these games from USB (i.e. without a backup DVD).

Can anyone confirm Sam and Max Season 2 working with backup disc the same way as Season 1 with the IOS patcher?

You can run any Sam & Max from USB and actually you MUST since it's very slow through a DVD-R.

You can do it using NeoGamma or Configurable USB Loader.

    USING NEOGAMMA:

1.- Get the latest NeoGamma at least RC6 for both games: NeoGamma R8 beta test - GBAtemp.net
2.- As you can see there's a folder called NeoGamma in the ZIP file with a lot of WDM files and you have to put that folder in the root of your SD card.
3.- In Neogamma mount your USB device and in Config Options and select ALT DOL: Disc+ Only
4.- When you start the game Neogamma will let you select which episode you want to launch. If it doesn't then you didn't understand step 2 (shame on you)

    USING CONFIGURABLE USB LOADER

1.- Get the latest Configurable USB Loader (at least v56 for both games): Configurable USB Loader - GBAtemp.net
2.- As you can see there's a folder called usb-loader that should go to the root of your SD card. That folder has two WDMs for Sam & Max precisely.
3.- Start Configurable USB Loader select your game and press 1 for options. Select ALT DOL and you can see the list of episodes under Disc+. Select the one you want to launch.

That's the only method but I really suggest you all people use this method 'cos DVD-R is VERY slow for this game and this game is HEAVY in animations you need the fastest media available and that's your USB HDD.

Alright I tried the Configurable USB Loader Method and I followed all the steps and put the folders in their proper locations, but inside the loader when I go to options and select ALT DOL then I try to launch and USB, Main.dol, and disc show up but disc is greyed out and I can't select it. Idk what I'm doing wrong
