No Dice on the HD
I read this and just wanted to clarify, using oldschool analog component cables(the RGB special Wii cables) you cannot get better than 480p, this is dvd quality, using the composite cable (yellow) cable is 480i, the difference is 480i paints one line then skips a line then paints a line then skips a line at a ratio of 1/60 of a second, 480p however paint all lines without skipping any, there fore you get sharper images because you tv doesnt have to interlace the images, You can buy the most snazziest 1080p tv out there and it doesnt mean anything when your only feeding a 480p signal, by the way most tv's out there are not true HD 1080p, true 1080p is 1900 by 1080, meaning 1900 little pixels along the top of your screen by 1080 down the side of your screen giving a grand total of 2,072,520 pixels on your sceen to make a shiny picture, tv manufactures know 95 percent of the population are mindless consuming sheep and they use trickery to sell you a tv they claim to be HD, but really isnt true hd, it just can support usually up to 1080p then it downscales the huge amount of data to fit your screen,
Now if you are like me (A videophile) and like to tweek to get the best image quality Ill let yea in on a little secret, the tv manufactures know how dumbed down the population is and the use this to their advantage, when the average consumer goes into the store to by a tv or projector ect, they compare the image side by side to other tv's. then the go i like that image, ill take that one, the product is sold. So here is the tv manufactures trick is played out, they are tuning their tv's to look its best under fluoeressant lighting, then you get your tv home and plug it in and are completely satisfied with your I got the best image quality purchase. Now this is important, You dont use fluoeressant lighting in your house and you image quality now needs to be tunes to get the optimal image from you tv.
******* Enter Digital Video Essentials*************
DVE is a dvd you use to tune your tv to your viewing environment, this video and there are many like it, is my fav, it will explain everything you need to know about how your tv works with surrounding light ect. to give the best image, Im not going into detail here about how the contrast ratio effects the sharpness and the color, this you can learn if you really give a dam, After i tuned my home theater using DVE i got comments even from my GF who isnt all that technically inclined saying, WOW the Projector Looks awesome now, I sold the exact same system in my house to my buddy and he came over to play mario party 8 and he said what the hell how come your image is shaper and cleaner, he was a bitter like he got ripper of, and i simply told him, We havent tuned your system yet, then after we didnt he started to tell the guys at work what i did, and a mass of call started coming in from every tom dick and harry, "Yea i got a new sony bravia and could you come do that thing to mine too, and one lead to the other and I started to charge for my service, 50 bucks for a tuning
To this day every one at the lunch room table says "Yep, Best money I ever spent"
Some people are more than happy with their current setup, However when i drop 2 grand on a home theater, I want it kickin a$$ like a Imax for the cash I spent on it, Thats my opinion.
If yea want a copy of DVE try google or amazon to get one or PM me and ill try to hook yea up best i can
