Skylanders Spyros won't detect the Wireless Receiver

Just got a used copy of Spyros and can't get it to work. I plugged the USB dongle thing into the back of the Wii, fired up the Wii and the game, and it just sits there saying it can't detect the receiver. Is there any known solution to how I can make this work? I tried both USB ports, tried pressing the little button on the back, tried powering on the portal manually, nothing seems to work.

At first I thought this was something to do with being mod'd but it doesn't work even if I boot up from the disk with my HDD disconnected. Didn't really know where to go for help so I'm hoping someone here might have an idea of how to make this work. I mod'd my Wii years ago and haven't done any updates or anything since because I think that will break my mod so I don't know if there are some updates I actually need.

I read something about a 233 IOS version but I tried that in my version of CFG loader and it didn't seem to help at all.

    Thanks!

does it work when using the game disk? or does it fail then, too?

    Can we see a syscheck?

I tried unplugging my HDD and plugging the USB receiver thing in where it was and then using the actual disc and that didn't work either so it's possible the dongle is bad or there's something else going on. If I plug it into my computer should it detect it? Is there any other way to test the dongle itself?

    What's a syscheck?

Also, is there any light on the little USB dongle that should come on or anything so I can tell if it's even working?

I have never owned the game, so don't know what it looks like when it's working or not. But should work normal when running the game disk, if your system IOSs aren't messed up.

Syscheck will let me see your IOSs so I can tell if they are good and should work or if they are messed up and you should fix with a remod. See the syscheck guide in my signature for how to generate and post a syscheck. Do so as a reply to this thread.

Well, it looks like it's my wireless dongle thing that's the problem. I plugged it into my computer and it didn't detect it until I started playing with it and pressing it up or down to make better contact. The piece inside is definitely loose.

So, since I need to get a new portal, I guess I should get a Trap Team portal since they are all backwards compatible so it would work with my Spyros and any future ones I get?

Just thought I'd update this that I confirmed my Wireless Dongle thingie was the problem. I bought a new (used) portal from Gamestop and plugged it in and it's working just fine.
