I definitely agree with the top 2, skyward sword and SMG 2 are the two games I play most often.

I've never played a Zelda game. How much does nostalgia figure into rating a game like Skyward Sword over other games? I mean, if Skyward was your first experience of Zelda, would it still beat out similar games (such as The Last Story or Xenoblade Chronicles)?

One of the main reasons Skyward Sword is ranked higher than games like TLS and XC is because it was the first RPG to make use of the MotionPlus technology to it's fullest. What I mean is that swinging a sword in SS perfectly matches your hand movement, while TLS and XC do not have that feature.

    Monster Hunter Tri

In my opinion, I think Monster Hunter Tri should have made the top 5 Wii games, due to its vastness and the mechanics of all the bosses. Monster Hunter Tri clearly is the most vast Wii game of all time with so many bosses and weekly daily events, and amazing online play with 1,000+ hours worth of gameplay. This game never ends and you can play it and find something different everytime. MH3 can almost be considered a MMORPG, because you have everything you could ask for in a MMO and a RPG.

The writers at IGN have not only taken the vastness of the game into account, but also the Replay Value, Presentation, Soundtrack, etc. which made other games rank higher that MH3.
