Can 2 candles replace the Nintendo Wii's sensor bar?

I heard that 2 candles placed the same distance apart as the length of the sensor bar is a cheap replacement because fire has the same infrared qualities as the sensor bar. Has anyone tried this to see if it works?

Note: Keep in mind the only reason the sensor bar is attached to the Wii system is for power. The wire doesn't send signals or information of any kind to or from the Wii. There's actually a wireless sensor bar that came out recently, which proves this.

I haven't tried it but I have heard of it working..but I wouldn't use it as a substitute for the sensor bar...think of how many candles you would go through and all the wax that would get everywhere...no fun.

What? I don't understand the question. If you are asking if you can use 2 candles in place of the sensor bar, no, thats retarded. The sensor bar is connected to the Wii by a wire plugged into the back of the Wii. How are you gonna plug the candles into the Wii? How is it going to interact with the console? Magic? I must have misunderstood the question.

Many people have asked this question so I decided to test this out. Amazingly this actually works but the signal is not as good as the original sensor bar. The reason it works is because the wiimote uses infrared technology. You can use it but it's pointless because you have to relite the candle and the signal strength isnt that good. Its a fun thing to test out though.
