There are different types of updates when using a disc. If it prompts you to update your system menu right when you insert the disc, DONT DO IT! You should install priiloader and set it to block the disc update check.

Some games like MW3 require an "in game" update which comes in the form of a save file. This is totally different than a system update and is perfectly fine to accept.

If you insert a game to play and it prompts you to update, its the same as a system update. If you have followed the Softmod Any Wii guide you shouldnt have any issues. Use the priloader to block disc and system updates. At all cists never update your Wii. It is ok to do a in game update as stated above.

You system will not be updated without your knowledge. An "in game" update notification will pop up after the game has already loaded and gone to its main menu, the system update notification will show up prior to the game being loaded.
