    Long Range Remote

We use our Wii for Netflix and my wife's desk is just a touch too far for accurate navigation with a WiiMote. I've heard that the Wii Sensorbar is simply two I/R LEDs mounted a specific distance from each other. Would I then be able to substitute the Wii Sensorbar with a custom one with the LEDs further apart? If so, would I also need to beef up the LEDs (as longer distances mean less light reaching the WiiMotes)? Finally, does anyone know if such a thing already exists and where I can buy one from? I know Ebay has generic Wii Sensorbars, but I wasn't able to find a long range one.

    Thanks guys.

You could by one of those battery powered sensor bars and place it on your wife's desk. Then point the wiimote at that.

I was hoping to come up with a solution that I could use on the mantlepiece rather than add to the clutter on her desk, plus I suspect it wouldn't work too well from that close. Still I appreciate the response and will continue to investigate.

    Thanks.

Mauifrog is right (yeah, go figure lol). A lot of the battery powered sensor bars have distance settings. The one I use nearly doubles the distance as compared to the wired. Might want to take a look at them.

Thanks for the reply. There are a lot of wireless ones for sale on eBay that are dirt cheap. Is this where you guys got yours from, and if so is there one you can recommend?

    Thanks again.

Mine came from Walmart at 3am a few years ago lol. I remember it cost me $20 at the time. The only downside is it chews through batteries. I quickly made the decision to spend the additional $15 on some good energizer rechargeables. Haven't had to buy batteries since!
