Updating the hacks on the wii, cios etc...

I have tried many guides to update everything on my wii, one guide screwed my past hacks and rendered my wii useless (trying to install bootmii actually) then i got a guide from the black screen to fix it, now it went back to normal. What i am trying to say is that i don't want to take another chance to screw my wii up, so i figured i would ask what guide or if anybody can tell me how to update my wii to the newest hacks. Since i dont want to take the risk again, ill give whatever info is needed. wii 4.2u Thank you in advance.

We recommend first time posters to do an introduction post.

We'll put a lot of useful links.

With all the helpful links that you provided i did not find the answer to what i was looking for. If there is an extra nudge in the right direction, it would be appreciated.

You can use a guide called "Updating from your old softmod"

    Use the search funtion.

I have looked at the guides in the links when i did the search and none of them were useful, one of them was the one that made my old softmod screw up =/.

I believe you need to use that search box in the upper right corner. I do know, in fact, the Introductions give a search tutorial. That or you can find it under the Recommended guides section of the site.
