Us Trouble with USB Loader GX and *certain* PAL games (NTSC user)

My Wii's system menu is version 4.2u. The version of USB Loader GX I'm using is 1.0 r935.

My problem is bizarre. Every NTSC game loaded onto my external HDD works perfectly, as do several PAL games (viz. "Opoona," "Godzilla: Unleashed," "Dokapon Kingdom," "Super Paper Mario," and "Tatsunoku vs. Capcom"). However, despite my efforts, I can't seem to get the following PAL games to work in USB Loader GX:

    Wii Sports
    Wii Party
    Geometry Wars: Galaxies
    Harvest Moon: Magical Melody
    Pikmin 2
    Trackmania
    WarioWare: Smooth Moves

When I load up any of the above, the game plays but it does so in a screen of wavy lines (the picture has color, though). If I try to exit back to the Wii Menu from here, my Wii freezes up and loses signal to the TV, forcing me to hold down the Wii's power button to do a hard shutdown.

If I select one of these problematic PAL games and go to "Settings" >> "Game Load," and set the video mode to "Force NTSC," I simply get a black screen and must manually shut down my Wii. I have also tried enabling "Error 002 fix" and doing some general playing around with the settings, but I haven't gotten anything to work yet.

    Any ideas?

P.S. I'm a newbie to softmodding, so if you would, allot me some degree of patience. I have searched the forums and several FAQs for a resolution to this issue, but to no avail.

I know Pikmin 2 requires component cables because that's one of the few European titles I own. Can't help you with the rest because any of the other ones that I have on you list I own the US version. Not mocking you or trying to be insulting...Why would you have a PAL Wii Sports with an NTSC system? It's a pack in game!?!?!?!

Alas, I have my Wii connected via component cables...

LOL, no worries! It's complicated. At one time, I had both a PAL and an NTSC Wii. My copy of Wii Sports was for the former, having acquired my NTSC system secondhand.

I have had this issue before. Try changing the setting to disc default. This has worked for me before. Hope this helps.

    Update:

I recently downloaded and tested two more PAL games: De Blob and Monopoly. Mysteriously, De Blob works, but Monopoly exhibits the same jumping screen as did the other PAL games on my list.

    Working PAL games:

    De Blob
    Opoona
    Godzilla: Unleashed
    Dokapon Kingdom
    Super Paper Mario
    Tatsunoku vs. Capcom

    Problematic PAL games:

    Monopoly
    Wii Sports
    Wii Party
    Geometry Wars: Galaxies
    Harvest Moon: Magical Melody
    Pikmin 2
    Trackmania
    WarioWare: Smooth Moves

Hunch: Although my Wii is connected via component cables, my television is a standard definition CRT set. It appears that the PAL games on my "problematic" list are outputting a native 480p signal (though I have no idea why). However, since my TV is not capable of progressive scan, they are unable to display properly.

I'll confirm this when I have the opportunity to test my Wii on an HDTV.
