The simplest method is to have an unscrubbed game (for example, NSMB will update you to 4.1) within your region and accept the update. Mauifrog has a thread here that proposes other options as well.
I have a Wii firmware on 2.0J. Is it possible to upgrade/change to 4.1E ? Therefore I can install homebrew and watch DVD. Is Yes, how ? Thanks
Hi nightstah, thanks for your information. I will try it.
if you flip in one of the newer games, metroid m or something they will get you to 4.3
older games obviously have updates of lower version with them
edit: they will ask you to update, not force you. remember you don't need any update of the systemmenu to play any game (hint: Install Priiloader it blocks disc and online updates)
Updating from a game won't do what this user is asking. He would need to follow Maui's softmod guide and change the region with ARC to either E or U.
Can wii firmware 2.0J upgrade/change to 4.1E
Damn I suck!!!!
dude, stick to this site here everything is there (search function, top right). (or do the google search with site:wiihacks.com behind it)
Install Priiloader is the guide. (already gave the link some posts above, read everything in a thread)
it can block disc and online updates and enable some other nice features.
so basically you stay at the current firmware version (also not asingle game is firmwareversion dependent), block updates and you ll be able to play every game which asks you to update, it just won't show up.
and what do you mean by auto updates?
you jumped in with that. really i don't want to rewrite the whole thread, and ithian already gave you the hint to reread this one here, also maybe you find in that priiloader guide some answers to your questions if you browse the thread or use the search function "search thread" in the grey bar.So later down the road ifi pop a game in they can force me to upgrade to 4.3?
my answer: (see previous posts) there are no forced updates (no playstation stuff here with hidden updates etc), you'll always have to confirm if you want to update or not. so click cancel, just not yes
as there is NO need to be on any specific firmware version to play any game. this is depended on other things if a game is playable or not. if you however encounter the sittuation when you flip a game into the wii and it asks you to update, this whole sittuation can be cleared by skipping/blocking the update. this is done by priiloader.
so yes, auto or whatever update, from game discs or online (when you re-setup your wifi on the wii or by using the shopchannel), can be skipped/blocked.
updates = you are on firmware 4.1 or something you want to play a game which has 4.3 firmware on it. the game wants to update, block this and play the games without being asked.
good luck installing priiloader
