You know you can update everything that matters without doing an official update right? Having a modded Wii has so many benefits. Not just playing backups or using a usb hard drive. There are tons of games and programs made and distributed for homebrew. Programs like WiiEarth (same as google earth) and WiiMC (better than windows media player). Just see all thats out there before you decide going back to a stock Wii.

Apparently you're not going to answer my question, OK. So you've decided to go back to stock --- be my guest. I'd not use a blu ray player as a dedicated DVD player; no sense in rushing the laser's demise.

Obligatory 1st link (Dogeggs), and 2nd link (omgmaserati). Thread closed, asked and answered.

    First Off Sorry nightstah .

Ok i would like to start off by saying sorry to Nightstah i didn't mean to annoy you.

Next i would to say that i didn't see your question and i have no idea what you are talking about i am beyond being a noob when it comes to modding a wii i am so lost right now i don't know if I'm coming or going.

now seeing as everyone saying i don't need to reset my wii and that it's a stupid idea i havent also due to the fact that I'm lost and have no idea what I'm doing.

Ok mabey someone can explain what this means to me please.
And your drive is what... D3-2 (meaning, incapable of playing backups) or?
    by nightstah.
    as well as this please
you don`t need the HDD, if you install neogamma you will be able to play those games, if you patch your ios and cIOS

And finally what is a WADManager and how do you install it i dl'ed the WADManager 1.7-WM17.7z but i have no idea how to run it or what i have to do with it seeing as it is it self a WADManager 1.7-WM17.wad file and yes i know i look like a moron but can someone walk me throught this with baby steps as im am so over my head im drowning.

    And once more Sorry.

Ps. I'm headed to bed so i wont be able to replay right away.

Tell you what. You seem like a guy genuinely concerned about your console and I can empathize with that feeling. Your thread is reopened (and your double thread merged with it) for now. I suggest you re-read everything in it a couple times, then read anything and everything you possibly can via the search tool that might be related to the suggestions given to you.

This thread goes south again, it's being closed. It gets closed and you make a second thread again, I give you an infraction. Deal? Good luck.

D3 2 is the drive chip that doesnt allow your wii to read burnt disks
neogamma is a backup game loader which will also mount the drive and play originals or backups(unless you have the D3 2 drive)

Wad manager doesnt come as a wad(you must have downloaded a forwarder channel), once you find the correct DL put it in your apps folder on your sd card and load it thru homebrew channel. Wad manager 1.7

First time post long time fan.

Holy freakin' crap I thought I was a noob. I've modded 4 wii's with no problems, never asked any questions. Just read, read , and read some more. I'm a hillbilly and even I can read and figure this stuff out. All the good questions have already been answered. Big Thanks to the guys who started WiiHacks, when I get some extra cash I'll be making a donation.

wad manager is a homebrew app. you download it and put it in your app folder in your sd card. then you run homebrew, and then you launch it.
remember neogamma? that`s a wad. you put it in your sd card in a folder called wads.
once you loaded wad manager, you choose sd card, then the wad folder, then the neogamma wad. Then you select install wad.

Not really, but you need to use the wad manager and the original .wads in the wad folder you used to install. Once you click them the option to uninstall will be available. Easiest way since you should have all that still.
