I have been messing with this for days now. I have the same issue of my songs staying on the Wii and eventually filling up until I exit the game and delete them. I followed the guide you linked to and updated all of my IOS as stated using 5.1 as well as setting Rock band 2 to load using ios 223. All of my instruments are working just fine, but the DLC issue persists. What could I be missing?

I believe you are going to need to use hermes v4 with usb loader gx, rather than v5 or v5.1 to correct the issues.

Does the save data move back and forth for you using that set up? That's exactly what I was using when it didn't work. Updating to 5.0 and then 5.1 solved the problem. Now the data moves back and forth fine.

no, I haven't gotten it to work. but when I use usb loader gx i get a warning msg that it's only compatible with hermes v4 ios 223, not 5. and meanwhile, i've read posts on other sites where people are saying to use v4. ???

it looks like i and other people are having trouble with this. are there any other details you can share about your setup? thanks!

Last night after posting here, I installed Hermes 5, ios 222/68 and 223/67. I played RB2 and observed the DLC moving to the wii memory, and deleted it. Then I installed Hermes 5.1 ios 222 and 223. Same thing. In the usb loader gx options for both, I got the message that usb loader gx works with Hermes rev 4. my dlc still moves to wii memory. but in addition, usb loader runs kinda buggy now. sometimes when I move between screens, the wiimote lights go off. ugh! and once last night when I ran Beatles rock band, it didn't load. but then I tried it again and it did.

I have Wii 4.2, any idea what I am doing wrong? should I uninstall cios and try something fresh now? is there a detailed tutorial I can follow so that I don't miss a step?

based on the warning in usb loader gx, and what i have read numerous other people say on other forums, I really thought the way to make this work was with hermes rev 4. darkcide, if your way works I would love to try it.

Here is the exact formula to get it working...Or at least how I did it. I am using GX rev 938 launching with 223 v5.1 using 37 as a base. When I updated the data was still sticking in the NAND. I had to delete all of the content I purchased while using v4 and re-downloaded it with v5.0. Problem solved...Data moving as it should. When I updated to v5.1 it didn't affect anything I downloaded with v5.0 and everything still worked. It looks like you are using the wrong base for your cIOS and you may need to delete and re-download your data. Out of curiosity why would you suggest something that you can't confirm working? I've never seen the error message you are talking about either. It doesn't sound like a GX error message...It's way too nice. If it didn't work you would probably still get and error message that berates you in some way.

Edit: I should also add that you are always going to have a save file on your Wii for each generation of DLC. I currently have 4 different DLC save files. They are all really small...Like 1 block each if my memory serves me correctly. That acts as a swap file for the DLC so it is normal to have multiple RB saves if everything is working correctly.

I didn't exactly suggest anything, I was adding to the discussion, and expecting to get feedback or correction, in my quest to understand, by saying I believed it to be so, based upon what I have read many other people say, and also by the warning message I received from within the loader software itself. But if you got it to work, and I can do so also, I will be convinced.

I have seen many many post such as this one.
stick to rev 4 because rev5 works well with hermes uloader but not so well with other usb loaders, therefore making rev4 more stable link
thanks, I will look all of this over again tonight.

I re-read my post and I guess I should say I'm sorry...I'm not trying to come across as a jerk or flame you. I should choose my works more appropriately some times. If you install 223 using the right base I don't believe you will have an issue anymore.

hey, no problem. I'm sitting here at work, without access to my wii at home, wondering what version of usb loader gx that I even have, and sort of feeling like an idiot for not knowing. I assumed it was the most up-to-date version, because when I selected "update" within the application, it said there were none. but on the usb loader blog, I just saw that issues with hermes rev 5 were resolved back in april. link. so maybe my usb loader gx is an old version, and maybe all those posts I've seen are referring to the older version, also?

I just now saw your edit to your previous post. Gee, I wonder if my RB3 is working correctly, but my RB2 isn't. after playing both, I have a really small RB3 DLC thing on my wii, but a large RB2 DLC file. I deleted the large one.

thanks again for the input. I will report back later with how it all turns out.
