    Help with usb loader GX

Whoever can help me figure this one out, I will donate $20 to wiihacks.com in your name.

I have read over 30 tutorials to get Guitar Hero 5 to work on my wii through USB loader GX.

I bought my wii soft modded already so I have no idea what was used to install it to this point. I can play every other game I have including Guitar Hero WT.

I downloaded the updated IOS56 per a few different tutorials on this site. I updated IOS222/223 and also merged 36/37 and all those fun tutorials. Still when I load up I get black screen. When I put the disc in it says I have to update my wii in the disc Channel.
    I'm on 4.2U wii system.
I have no idea what to do. What will happen if I hit update? Will it brick? I'm still a noob to all this. Can I start all over? I don't have a clue what or how everything was installed before I got it so from what I can tell it will be hard to get it back to a virgin state.

Like I said, anyone willing to help me figure this out, I'll donate $20 in your name.

Not looking for a donation in my name, but you could still donate to the forums. Install Priiloader and block online and disk updates.
    Damn I suck!!!!

If u update it may brick but it will defo wipe out your soft mod. I'm a little confused as u say usb loader and then refer to discs? Which is it? If u have the HBC run syscheck and post a report here to give us a better understanding of what has been installed.

Have u looked at this guide?

while u hv HBC, u can apply Gecko to play the "disc". in this way, the "disc update" could be avoided.
with a disc in DiscChannel and u accidently press A to accept 'Wii sys update", u can immediately press the EJECT (before u press/select other option) to get the disc out and cancel the update. no harm.
on ur 4.2u, don't proceed any update with a disc (which consists an official 4.2x); as the update will overwrite and "cancel" ur installed SoftMod.
in my opinion, u don't need to consider virginalize ur console. rather, test the different LOADERs to play the 'problematic' games/ISO. it works, if not immediately, be eventually.
did u connect the usbhdd to the "right" usb port of Wii console ? always plug into the lower usb port, when Wii placed flat on table. wrong port will end up with black and freeze screen.

like said aboves, u could consider to donate to wiihacks in ur own name, but never mine. thx.
we come here for sharing the wii fun.

I have the disc, but also have the ISO on my external, I don't want to have to use the disc. My brother in law gave it to me when he sold his wii.

That guide is the last one I tried but didn't get it working either. Frustrating. I followed it exactly. Went over it and double checked everything and I still get black screen.

The only thing I can think of is in all the tutorials it says "Install this wad IOS56-64-v5146.wad" it is the only thing that doesn't have step by step. I went into WAD manager 1.5 and installed to IOS249.. is that what I'm supposed to do?

Yes, I tried ios222/223/249 in the settings for game load options. I still think its something that was done wrong during the installation by the guy I bought the wii off of. I sent him an email asking for what/how he did it so I can post here and see if any of you notice something. Hopefully he sends it to me today.

Ok, so I got the txt file from the guy that sold me the wii of the instructions he followed... Here it is... i think something was missed (like cios38rev14 which I have seen in many tutorials but not this one). The only addition to this I did was install the new wad for gh5.

This Tutorial is for hacking WII of newer generations (mid 2009 - late 2009)
These Wii's have newer Dvd drives and will not play from dvd's only from harddisk (with usb loader)

I have a late 2009 model and this is the only tutorial that worked for me:

First of all, we gonna start with installing The Homebrew Channel, DVDx:

You need an Sd card (wii doenst accept all SD-cards) and your Wii for this installation

    - Power On your wii

    - Download the following package and extract the contents of the rar file to the root of your SD card:
RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

    - Put SD card in your Wii and click the SD ison on the bottom of your screen

    - It will ask you if you want to run boot.dol/elf. Click yes.
the Hackmii installer boot screen will show, be patient, this displays for around 10 seconds before allowing you to move on.
Press 1 to continue. (If at this stage your Wii freezes, download an alternative version of Bannerbomb from their homepage)

    - A screen will show detailing what can and cannot be installed

    - Go up and select install the homebrew channel, followed by yes continue. The Homebrew Channel will commence installation.

    - Now select to install DVDx, followed by yes continue. DVDx will commence installation.

    - The bootmii installation will fail at this stage on the newer models of wii (including mine), so we are gonna skip this part..

    - Select exit or reboot the wii

    ***Important***
I highly recommend you make a NAND backup of your Wii before making any of the modifications listed below.
There are tutorials enough on how to make a nand backup (i didnt make a backup and my wii works fine)

    - download following package:
RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

    1. Copy the contents of the pack you downloaded above onto the root of your SD card keeping the folder structure. Overwrite any existing files.

    2. Power on your Wii and go into the Homebrew Channel.

    3. Load Trucha Bug Restorer. Press B to choose No IOS Reload. Wait a few seconds and then press 1 to continue.
Choose Downgrade IOS15. When prompted, choose load IOS from SD and press A to continue, follow the prompts and exit when finished.

    4. Load Trucha Bug restorer again and this time press left on the Wii remote until you select IOS15 and Press A.
Wait a few seconds and press 1. Choose IOS36 menu. Copy the settings so they are exactly as listed below:

    Install IOS to slot (36)
    Hash check (trucha) YES
    ES_Identity YES
    Nand Permissions YES

Scroll back up and select install patched IOS36. When asked choose to load IOS from SD. Follow any further prompts and exit when finished.

    4. Load Trucha Bug Restorer yet again, now choose IOS36 and press A. Wait a few seconds and press 1. Choose to restore IOS15.
Press A to restore. When Prompted always choose ‘Load IOS from SD’ follow any further prompts and exit when finished.

!!!! If at this point you get a DSI stack error, try powering down your Wii completly and then turning it back on and carrying on from step 4.
!!!! If the DSI error continues, in the Homebrew channel press the home button and choose to go into the Bootmii menu.
!!!! From inside Bootmii choose to load the homebrew channel again, and then run Trucha Bug Restorer. You should now be able to follow the step 4 instructions fully.

    5. Run Any Title Deleter MOD from the Homebrew Channel. Choose IOS36 and press A. Go to System Titles and press A.
Select the following IOS files one by one and select A to delete them one after the other:

    IOS222
    IOS223
    IOS249
    IOS250

If any of the above are not listed. Do not worry, just ignore and move onto the next one or the next step below. Press home to exit when finished.

    6. In the Homebrew Channel Run WAD Manager.

When it opens choose IOS36, Press A to open from SD slot. Install the following WAD files in order as listed below to your Wii:

    cIOS202[38+60]-v4.wad
    cIOS222[38]-v4.wad
    cIOS223[38+37]-v4.wad
    cIOS249-v14.wad
    cIOS250-v14.wad
    Install IOS70-64-v6687[TB+ES_diV+NAND].wad
    forwarder-UMRD wad

You are now set for playing backups on your Wii.

Now we are ready with softmodding the Wii, heres a quick tutorial on howto load games onto your usb harddsik drive and play it:

    * If this is the first time you have used uLoader then firstly connect a USB drive to your Wii.
If you have used the USB device before, ensure you have backed up any important data that is contained on it.
As it will get wiped. It must be connected to the USB socket that is on the right if you were looking at your Wii from behind.

Connect to right USB port as viewed from the back.
Run uLoader from either the homebrew channel or the from the system menu.
If it detects the drive it will then give you the option to format the drive to the WBFS filesystem.

If you need to find a compatible USB device, this matrix may help:
    Index.php - WikiTemp

Once uLoader has created the WBFS partition and created it’s config file you can connect the drive to your computer in order to copy ISO files directly to the USB device
so the games can be run from uLoader. To do this you will need a WBFS File Manager that can run on your computer.
I recommend the following programs for doing this:

WBFS Manager for Windows based systems:
RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

    Wiithon for Linux based systems:
RapidShare: 1-CLICK Web hosting - Easy Filehosting

For a general overview of using uLoader and some of it’s features click here.

Thanks to Hermes for this great loader.
