3.2U on preloader, going for priiloader?

    Hello,

I'm currently on 3.2U and I saw some time ago that preloader was replace with priiloader. I have bootmii as boot2 and preloader was used for the hack and update protection. Should I update to priiloader or is preloader fine (like preloader could fail on update detection for exemple)?

    Thanks

Really no reason to stay on 3.2 unless you really want to. If you wanted to update to 4.1 and get better sd support you could go that route. Updating to 4.1 would remove preloader and then you could install priiloader after you're on 4.1. Just a thought. Don't update to 4.2 though. Dogeggs has a guide on updating to 4.1 with homebrew still working or you could simply do ONLY steps 4 and 5 of the update your old softmod link in my sig.

hmmm... weird cause I see everywhere that if you're on 3.2 to 3.4, there's no reason to upgrade since you got the best sysmenu and the most hackable one.

As for SD support, I don't really use mine, only wad and homebrew on it, everything else is load from usb, let it be isos, vc or emu (dual partition schema) so having channel bootable from sd doesn't change anything for me.

3.4 is not good at all. Installing priiloader on that will give you a priiloader brick.

hmmm... but since I'm on 3.2, except for that sd support on wii menu, I don't see any reason to update

Then don't. Just a suggestion. Wiijohn has a guide on updating to priiloader if that's all you want to do.

ok, just that since everything already works, like the saying says, "if it ain't broke, don't fix it!".

But aside of that, does preloader gave me enough update protection or priiloader should be install to replace it?

Priiloader can also block online updates. (Useful if you have kids)

Ah, that shouldn't be a problem So if I understand well, preloader does the job, there's no update that bypass it's protection (disc updates).

    Thanks!
