USB Loader = Could not initialize USB subsystem! (ret = -6)

I ran Pimp my Wii v1.4 yesterday to update all my IOSs.... Today I try to run USB Loader GX to load a game, but It will not load any games. It will not mount the USB Drive. I tried Neogamma, and cloader from a Game Channel. So that is the problem.... Will not mount the USB Drive.

What do you think I should do? What causes it to not mount the USB Drive. It is a 320gb Western Digital My passport drive. I tried Re-formating the drive, and installing a game again, but that didn't work same thing. So now I am thinking it is not the HD. I think it is the Wii.

Is there any programs I should run to verify anything on my Wii? I am thinking of running IOSCHECK.

    Thanks, Mark

Good idea, signcheck. Um, users who follow wiihacks guides aren't directed to use Pimp My Wii for a reason --- the one you found. Do reply back with your IOS info, after you consult the Error Index here.

does everything look OK? What do you think I should try doing? Should I try re-installing cIOS249 rev 19?

    Thanks, Mark

Two things: you should have IOS 60 or 70 patched, depending on your System Menu (4.0/4.1 is 60, 4.2 is 70). The other thing is our guides do not recommend IOS 249 Rev -19 for a reason (mostly compatibility, depending on how you configure them/merge them). Revert back to IOS 249 Rev 17, and trucha-enable whichever IOS is called for depending on SM revision.

In the beginning I followed the tutorial for 3.1-4.1 and in section 4I did patch IOS 60... thats weird. I guess I willl have to go to Wad Manager and install the wad again. On downgrading to IOS 249 Rev - 17 do I have to remove rev 19 before I do it or can I just run the rev 17 installer and it will write over it?

    Thanks, Mark

Disregard the IOS 60 remark --- I forget signcheck doesn't report it's patching (correctly; a bug, apparently). Never uninstall an IOS below 200 -- always overwrite, but a non-issue now. Just rerun the Rev 17 installer and overwrite.

Yeah I read to never uninstall under 200 Thanks for the NOTE! Def. something that should be repeated though.

Tomorrow I will rerun the rev 17 installer and post back to how I made out.

Thanks for the help, and I hope this gets my games running again. Mark

    PORBLEM SOLVED!!!!!

I reverted back to cIOS249 rev 17 and my games now load from the USB drive. I ran signcheck again afterwords and I think I see the problem:

The "Usb2.0 IOS tree" wad Disabled on rev 19... It probably would have worked if it was Enabled like 17.

    BEFORE:
IOS249 (ver 19) Enabled Disabled Disabled Disabled

    AFTER:
IOS249 (ver 17) Enabled Disabled Disabled Enabled
