I put the boot file of USBGLX in the root of my SD card, so what am I doing wrong?
if you already installed the boot.dol
installed file is (usbloadergx boot.dol located in your apps/usbloader gx in the sd card)
I'm sorry if I confused you.
    yeah select installed file.

if you haven't installed it go to
    load/install file option
then install boot.dol by pressing A

Ok, before I try the "installed file" option, before you guys posted your priiloader instructions, I found this one: HOWTO: Install Priiloader to help prevent system bricks if you cannot use Bootmii as boot2

I downloaded the 4.2u file for my system from this site, but I haven't modified anything on that file. Do I need to modify something, if so, WHAT?

Ok, I'm impatient and couldn't wait, so I just tried it anyway. I started up the Wii, held the reset button down and got to the priiloader menu. I went to the install file section and it found boot.dol and installed it. I then set it to Autoload to the "installed file", but when I open a game and choose to exit the game, it always takes me back to the main wii menu instead of the USBGLX menu.

Is this because I still need to edit something in the hacks.ini file (which hasn't been edited at all yet) or did I miss a step somewhere else?

    note: did you go to
system menu hacks settings and blocked all updates and enable the region frees? those are brick protections, just those, no need for other stuff
