The coding in the Wii games doesn't look for saves in the NAND, it just looks for saves which it expects to be in the NAND, the actual searching for directories is done by a call in the IOS, which, since v5 of Hermes cIOS', can emulate the NAND for saving.

now if you can use hermes cios 222 v5 then how would you change it in there to have it emulate the nand and have the saves on either the hdd (prefered) or the sd card? what would be the proper way to change that? also can i just over write the v4 or should i remove it first?

i first went to here: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...ghlight=easeus
this is perfect to dual partition the hdd. i then installed a wiiflow forwarder channel (look for the wiiflow lite). i copied all the sd card stuff after i was done straight to the fat32 side of hdd then removed the sd card. ran without problems and all the homebrew apps came up from hdd. (can give more details later through the week)

Did you catch the date of the post you refer to? Hmmm... February; I somehow doubt this was his idea of "later in the week."

Sorry if this looks like a thread bump. But I'd also like to put my hand up and say yes I'd like to see game saves on a SD or HDD.

If any of the clever people that have made the other great guides on wiihacks could put something for this together it would be a hit.

uLoader (latest version) enables saves direct to SD card, it creates a folder path on the SD called \NAND, it's made so well and easy to use. I can backup all my savegames by popping my SD in a PC and backing up the NAND folder, simples.
What I'm not a fan of is the uLoader GUI, looks ugly, takes ages to scroll thru the pages to a game off the HDD, compared to the much smoother, faster and more user friendly loaders of Wiiflow & USB Loader, but alas on those loaders there is no save direct to SD option.
Surely if the latest CIOS 222,223,224 support this FAT FFS Module savegame redirection, could it not be added to other loaders ?

Wow this is fantastic. Pitty about uloader looking like fish guts compared to other loaders. I haven't used it myself bit I'll take your word for it.

Well if it's a matter of the other loaders using the cISO in the same way as uloader I guess it is a matter of time until the other devs catch up and implement the same feature.

Good to see some progress is adding critical features left out by nintendo.
