That may be just a forwarder.
A good way to find out is to copy a boot.dol file from another program and paste it over the one in the usbloadergx folder.

If it is indeed a forwarder it should launch the program you copied instead of USB Loader GX.

I load all my games through my USB HDD. I used to have both (SD card adn HDD) plugged in to us the loader. But I took out my SD card and now only use HDD. The only difference I have is that I cannot save the game setting unless I have my SD inserted. That's the only difference. My games run fine with just the HDD and no SD card.

Most WADS your installing as channels, are simply forwarders into the DOL's in the home brew channel. That being said, apps such as NeoGamma do use the SD card for things such as saving configuration data, and so on. I'm not 100% sure if the GX Loader does this as well, but it could be the case.

Myself, I have a dedicated SD just for the Wii, if your soft moding, you really should have one as well.

I also run my games off a HDD, but usbloader will not start without an sd card in. If no sd card is in, it will spit out the DSI error the OP describes.

The thing is for me though that I can have a clean sd card in (nothing on it. I have installed the usbloader as a channel) and after starting usbloader and then checking the sd card, there is a config folder on there.

    Any way to fix this?

It seems to need the sd card to write the config folder to it. But why? And is there a fix?

    Thanks.

donate a lot of cash to the code author or get the source and hack it out.

    So short answer, no.

Could have done without the sarcasm, but I saw your post after I posted. It made sense to me then.

The SD card is needed for the configurations.

    Fine. I get it.

No worries. I just leave the card in anyway.

Oh believe me there was no sarcasm there, as a programmer, I'd be down for getting fat donates for feature requests :P
