    Wii-Linux - USB Storage

    Hi,

I have recently installed and setup Whiite on a 4.1E wii softmodded with the excellent guide by Dogeggs. The idea behind running linux on the wii is to have a low powered bittorrent client, dhcp server and apache web server for my intranet at home. So far i have setup whiite, xfce4, transmission so that i can view my torrent client over SSH with X11 forwarding. This means that from any pc with Xming and putty installed i can view and manage my torrents. With this all setup is pretty much standard and so installed on a SD card. What i would like to do is get away from sd and have this running and storing my downloads to a USB hard disk but i cannot see any clear info here about doing that. Also i cannot seem to run from bootmii, is this an ideal launch method or is the HB channel suitable?

    Cheers,

Nice setup. Pity you don't use paragraphs more often :P

AFAIK it IS possible to run the entire Linux partition FROM a USB drive.

But I think you mean running linux from the front SD card but downloading torrents to a USB harddrive. In that case, look here - great tutorial.

You seem to be fluent enough with linux commands etc, so you should be fine.

BootMii is the ideal launch method, since it will enable you to use Wi-Fi.

If you don't care about Wi-Fi, the DVD Drive and USB2.0 (USB1.x Works though), use the HomeBrew Channel to launch.

When you turn your wii on, it launches into bootmii, eh? If you can't load MIKEp5 with that then you may need to replace the file ppcboot.elf in the bootmii directory of your SD card.
