    BootMii question...

I have just hacked my wii so I can play burnt games, but while trying to do a tutorial I couldn't get bootmii to work (wii remote wouldn't work while in bootmii) so I for some bizarre reason just bypassed it and continued with the hack. Anyway, now I am concerned because I realise it is quiet important to have it.
Is there another program like bootmii I can use that will work with a wii remote and is it okay to install a suggested program after adding the backup launcher, homebrew etc.
Plus, when I play the newly burnt game my wii churns quiet alot more than normal. Is that okay??
Please feel free to move this if it's in the wrong forum and sorry if I dont seem to make much sense.

Bootmii only functions from the power/reset buttons on the console or a GC controller. A similar app is Priiloader, but it isn't nearly as effective as bootmii installed to boot2 and doesn't allow you to make a NAND backup.

Burned discs only read at 3x in the console, whereas normal discs read at 6x. This may be why you're experiencing noise issues as the laser is working harder to do the same job. For thoroughness, usb loading reads at 8x.

And would it be okay to try and install priiloader now after adding the homebrew channel, backup launcher etc??
And it's not likely to damage the wii with it having to work harder to read the disks?
When I tried bootmii even the power/reset buttons weren't making a difference.

With Bootmii you want to make sure you're installing from the latest revision, as older versions didn't all have button console support. Otherwise a GC controller will work.

Yes it's fine to install Priiloader anytime, just make sure you install the patched ios for your system menu first. Instructions and downloads are in either of the softmod guides in my sig, follow the one for your firmware.

Wait....is it okay to just install Bootmii, without getting to the next bit (where I need the GC controller)...will that still stop it from bricking?? I'm really, really sorry...I'm new to all this.

Yeah you can get the latest revision at bootmii.org if you need to, later revisions support the console buttons. You need to run a NAND backup from the bootmii application once it's installed. The NAND backup functions similar to a pc restore point. It backs up the important info on your console so if you ever brick, you can load bootmii and restore back to an earlier state.

Instructions for doing a NAND backup and installing the app are in either softmod guide linked below.

Yeah the bootmii app just comes from the one install, so once that's done the program is ready to go.
