Legit game disks don't load after softmod from 3.3 to 4.1

First of all, PLEASE don't hijack my thread talking about completely different problems with your Wii! I have a very specific problem with my Wii not being able to read legitimate game disks after I performed a softmod following the directions of a tutorial on this website. I don't need a bunch of idiots with unrelated problems whining that their wii can't play backups or can't load from their USB drive. This is NOT the thread for that.

    That said...
A friend of mine gave me his Wii to mod and set it up so he can play games from a USB drive. I recently bought myself a Wii (V4.2U stock) and had it modded and running in a day. I figured that process would be similarly as straight forward. His Wii was in good working order and running software version 3.3 before I touched it. I started working from this tutorial: http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html

I was able to install everything without difficulty and when everything was done, it would play games from my WBFS drive just fine. I then tried to boot a normal game disk. It gave an error.

If I start the Wii with a game disk in it and select the disk channel from the system menu I got a white screen with a big question mark saying this: "Unable to read the disk. Check the Wii Operations Manual for help troubleshooting." If I put the game in after the Wii has started, I get a black screen saying this: "An error has occurred. Press the Eject Button and remove the disk, then turn the Wii console off and refer to the Wii Operations Manual for help troubleshooting" If I try to load the game from NeoGamma it says: "Launching Game timeout"

After this, I uninstalled Bootmii as boot2 and disabled all of my system hacks in priiloader. The problem still exists.

Is there any other information I can provide that would help with the diagnosis? Should I find a guide to undo all the changes I did and start over from scratch? Should I try burning a game or buying a GC game to test with?

i would say it sounds like the drive itself has an issue

I'm having the same, exact, issue. USB Loader does work, but no disks are working (originals/backups).. I can assure you that it's not the drive because I've exchanged the drive (I've 3 spares here, none work)...

Any one knows what to do to fix it??

Try this....... If you have an external HDD hooked up along with usb loader gx installed, open that program and insert a wii game. First see if a messege comes up saying it has found a game. If it appears, you can try 1 of 2 things. You can mount the drive so that the game will load using usb loader gx OR you can rip that game to the HDD. If the game rips perfectly fine, try the ripped game. If that works, ok. Also try playing the game like I said above using the mounting feature (basically running the disc using usb loader gx). If that works, then obviously its not the drive. Another thing you could do if you really need to and have an older firmware is you could run a game that will update your entire system. Ofcource youll lose most of your softmods but I would rather have a working wii with no mods than a modded wii that doesnt play discs anymore. If your older than 3.4, run a game that includes the 3.4 firmware. If your running older than 4.1 firmware, run NSMB (or you can run NSMB for the older firmwares as well).
If I have helped you in any way, please thank me by pressing the little thanks button.

Well, uLoader isn't reading the disk at all (cIOS 222).. It just keeps on spiinign the disk but nothing really happens..

Also, when ripping, it just stay on "Opening DVD disk...".

Weird stuff.. Anyway, NSMB is working fine through the uLoader..

Yea but that game thats working is probably working off the hard drive and not the actual disc. I would honestly be alittle worried about this. The ONLY other thing you could try is to install dvdx which allows you to watch movies, then install mplayer ce and see if you can get a movie to load. If you cant even get a movie to load after you have gotten everything installed properly, then I dont know how it cant be a faulty drive or maybe even a drive cable of some sort.

I'll try the cables now.. Let's hope for the best.

    Edit: Faulty flat cable..

Weird because the wii was brand new.. Sux to be the owner of this wii (not me)..

@AkkerKid, sorry for hijacking your thread, but it was the same issue.
Anyway, try formating your Wii memory so it comes back clean (through Wii Settings). If originals start working again than the issue was one of the steps you took to softmod. (keep in mind that you can always save your Mii's and such on SD cards)

just to clarify, DVDx does NOT allow you to watch movies. It just unlocks the drive/FW to be able to read "burnt" DVD's. i am not trying to be an a$$ i just wanted to clarify it.
