Did you by chance install cIOScorp? That basically turns all IOS' into custom IOS'. That could be what is leading to your problem. I am new to trying to help, a while back I stopped using cIOScorp, basically as soon as I got a hard drive for my Wii.
trucha sign ioses, particularly 38, 53 and 55. if you have the time, do them all. use dop ios mod v11.5, fake sign ios 36 first if not yet done. this will solve your problem. reinstall cios38 as well if neogamma doesn't work. your ios may have been overwritten by an older version or not trucha signed
that I think has to be the only solution to games not running. older ios or aren't trucha signed or you have a hack that forces your games to run at a certain ios

Sorry to revive this thread but I do have the exact similar issue and really not sure how to solve it.
I did what Bareg suggested above (trucha sign ioses 38,53 and 55 as well as 36) but no luck.
My wii doesn't read any disk (whether backups or originals) if I try to read them via the game channel or via the backup launcher of the HB Channel.
I get the same error "an error has occurred. Press the Eject Button..."
However, I can dump the disks on my harddrive, reading them on the Wii drive via the USB launcher.
So the issue is not the dvd drive I would assume.
I have a softmodded wii, 4.1U.
Any help would be hugely appreciated!
Well I am a bit of a noob so take this with a grain of salt, and if I am completely off base easy on the flames, but here is what I know.
When you put a game into your wii drive and use a usb loader to put it onto your hard drive it strips the game of all erroneous data and removes any updates that are on the disk. You also most likely have an update blocker as part of the homebrew installation. So the 'off the shelf' disk version wants to update but your wii won't let it and it crashes. However the usbloader works fine because the update doesn't take place in the first place. Try a really old game and if it still doesn't work take my advice and file it under U for useless, uninformed, unhelpful...
you may have a hack that forces games to run with ios 249. turn it off
Did anyone find a fix for this. I'm having the same problem with mine and my friends wii. After softmodding them, they wont read discs anymore. I did install Cioscorp. Is there a way to delete it? Can I just reset to factory settings and start again? Cheers guys.

Yeah cIOScORP is bad news!!!!! you have to be very very careful about removing it.... There is a guide on the forum from Ithian search for it and follow it to the "t".... But what ever you do dont reset to factory it will prolly brick your wii!!!!

Hi emuhack. I found the post on how to delete cIOS corp but my problem is I somehow deleted the HBC and cant load it again. I'm getting a message saying "there is no known vulnerable ios installed on this wii". Any ideas??????

fix legit games not loading after applying Dogeggs upgrade to 4.1
I have a similar situation. I was on softmod 4.0u then I upgraded to 4.1 following Dogeggs' tut. I am not able to load legit games not even (Wii Sports). The disc channel keeps spinning when I insert the disc. Then I have to reboot.
Also, Neogamma and backup launcher does not work (I get a black screen). I did not have Neogamma and backup launcher did not work for me prior to 4.1.
But, usb loader gx is able to recognize that a disc was inserted and able to mount the drive. I was also able to run a backup disk by mounting a drive. (altough, it could have just read the header and run it from the usb hdd), to me it means that the disc drive can read and it is not spinning endlessly. Another homebrew app (save extractor) is able to read the disc.
I tried resinstalling Dogeggs tut several times. I also tried Dop-Mii (but I will stay away from it). I think Dogeggs instructions does try to accomplish the same thing that Dop-Mii with respect to what is required to upgrade.
I keep changing the Priiloader System Menu Hack setting and internet setting. I was enabling or disabling the disc update and region setting. Still the disc was spinning endlessly and will not load.
Finally, I made things work (Wii Disc channel, backup Loader, neogamma). Both legit and backup disc load and I am able to play some games. (Of course, not those games that are problematic).
To fix my problem I went to load Priiloader (press Power + reset button while rebooting Wii) and change IOS to use for SM = 249 (originally was set to 60/61 ?) under settings (Not System Menu Hack).
I really don't know/understand what it does but you can try changing it. As I said it fix several problems I have related to disc drive spinning or home brew apps (disc related) from getting black screen and freezing.
Maybe somebody can explain why it works and what was the setting about.
