    Unhappy usb hdd trouble

i am completely exhausted all of my patience, and mental capacity trying to get my stubborn wii to bend to my will. i have read many tutorials on this site and gbatemp. i have searched for keywords on my problem. i have tried at least 5 usb loaders and different revisions of those loaders. i have tested my usb device(s) with the homebrew app that tells u if it's compatible and it is. i have swapped usb cables as one user suggested. two usb hdd's dont work as WBFS for me to playt games but can be used in MPlayer CE as FAT32 for me to watch tv shows/movies on. one 1gb flash disk i have works and i got to play a small game from it, so why would a compatible external hdd not work? i can play games burnt to disc just fine with neogamma but i would really prefer to save the discs and use a hdd. now that the ever informative rant is over....

i have a LU71 wii that is on system menu 4.0 i have ios 222 and 249 installed and CIOS38v14 and preloader and bootmii and made a nand backup

i used this guide to mod my wii (ty dogeggs)

any new ideas would be greatly appreciated

What USB HDs are you trying? Seems odd if they both wont work if they are on the compability matrix.

There is a link on another site but I dont want to get spanked for that.

Lets try to work this out!

that sounds like a good idea.... but is there any way to do that without disturbing the WBFS partition with 40gb of games i've already transfered to the hdd? maybe i should use a diff hdd in the enclosure to test this theory. thanks for this idea

diff hdd might be a good thing, i dont think you can do it with the the one with 40gb already on it.. maybe? you need a partition software such as gparted, easus,or Acronis, you should resize the wbfs partition(if you can) to free up some space on the hdd,be careful not to cut off the data.. so resize, then create new partition....
