Weird behaviour with my wii and some ISO’s I have

    Hi guys,
I am trying to understand some really weird behaviour with my wii and some ISO’s I have. First off let me tell you that I have a 4.2E that was safe updated from 4.1E that was safe updated from 3.4E

I connect my wii to a selector box via scart. My TV is a LCD 1080i and I usually run the wii in PAL60 mode, but can also use it in PAL50 mode.

To launch my games I use the cfgUSBLoader using a Free Agent 1TB and use the cIOS 38 v14

My wii runs both NTSC and PAL ISO, NTSC usually gives me a red screen on first boot but I usually use the ‘run as system’ in usb loader config but can use ‘patch game’ or PAL60 - 50’ to get the colours right.

You should also know that some of my games have been downloaded through newsgroups, but all decoded and extracted correctly.

The symptoms I am having is that some of these games will not run, giving me a black screen on boot. It does not matter which video settings I use the game refuses to boot. On the rare occasions I get a bad ISO the usb loader lets me know by not playing the disc channel music, and wii scrubber also seems to think the ISO is good.

All the games that have failed in this way so far have been NTSC, and the PAL versions have all been OK.

One game in question is Evil Under The Sun, both NTSC & PAL open in WiiScrubber and I can see the differences in the update partition, Partition 1 also opens up correctly on both ISO’s.

So why cant I get the NTSC version work on my wii when I have so many other NTSC games working fine ?

Any help in understanding this is appreciated.

    Regards

    Ump…

the black screen isnt a video problem normaly it is the cios you are using to lauch the game, what backup laucher are you using?. if it is selected games have a mess with the cios in the backuo laucher.

From what i understand getting a black screen on loading games, means your missing the ios needed to boot the game.

    Here, this might help!

Make sure you have IOS 38,53,55 installed and cIOS38rev14.
Try GX UsbLoader, You will be a happy camper....

    Update :-

I installed Neogamma R8 B3 on the homebrew channel, and peppa pig has started to work right off the bat (not sure why usbloader fails) - but non of the others work, they just lock up with a green screen under neogamma and a black one with usbloader.

Some games need an ALt.dol to work with an USB-Loader.
Do a search for the game you are having problems with!!!

Well I have found out that the game Peppa Pig wont run from most usb loaders, so that clears that up.

The other games though I just dont have a clue - I seem to have all the correct IOS' so I have no clue - other than they are bad ISO's.

I have given up and deleted the games that dont work, I have tried every option and have decided that they are either bad ISO's or they simply dont like my choice of usb loader - thus not worthy of being on my machine - lol
