Well, I ran the uninstaller and still no dice. At least no brick. HBC, which wasn't able to be updated before, was now able to update.
I am not happy about this at all. Whoever wrote this stupid thing should be ousted from the community... talk about setting the homebrew movement way, way back. Jesus.
Now that I've uninstalled, if anyone has any other ideas at all, please let me know... the launcher still works but I'd much rather be able to play legit games legitimately, I buy way more than I backup.
Is there any way to at least install SoftChip as a channel so I can half pretend that the real thing still works?
edit: nevermind, found it. Still pissed off. Thanks everyone for your help, hopefully one day I'll figure out a way to truly get this trash off my system. And in the future, I'll be much more careful with what I install.

Or you could just block disc updates using startpatch, or preloader & its hacks.ini.
I had that same problem with JumpStart Pet Rescue and I simply used Preloader (http://www.wiihacks.com/recommended-...d-any-wii.html) If you skip to step 5c, this will hopefully stop your disc from checking for system update.
