Don't update to 4.2!!!
It is just a bunch of anti piracy measures and will not benefit you in the slightest, if you have your Wii hacked and it is playing backups then LEAVE IT ALONE!! No games require a certain system menu to run, some require new IOS files that are easily installed with wad manager. So please don't update, the staff here have enough to deal with already without a flood of 'oh noes my wii is upside down/not loading backups/bricked' stories. Thanks ......If you are concerned about a member of your family/friend updating by accident then engage the parental lock function and it will make it difficult

Thanks for the advice. Never thought about engaging the parental controls to prevent the kids from doing an update Will sort that now!!!
Just have to re-educate them into using the backup launcher rather then the disc channel (which they're used to for non backed up games...)

Simply install IOS61 (if you don't have it already) and the Shopping Channel v17 via wad manager. Download and unzip these and place them in your wad folder and install with Wad manager: [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register]

OK!! Where did I go wrong? I set up the parental controls but this still did not stop the disc channel from being accessible So my kids could still do a system update....if they wanted too!!!
Also I see from some other threads on here that you could do the 4.2 update and then use one of the posted instructions for a work around......I'm confused
I've got a softmod currently running with 4.1e..........do I update & use one of the suggested work around solutions? OR Do I just leave alone and wait for a fully bonafide solution to be posted?

Cheers in anticipation
As of now no disc contains the 4.2 update if you have Preloader installed and Skip Disc Update Checking Enabled then updates from discs should be blocked. As for the 'workarounds' if your on 4.1 with everything working then there is no need to update to 4.2 and go through the trouble of starting over from scratch.
