    Wii 4.2U Update

    Help,

    I don't think I'm alone.
I just bought my Wii today and Nintendo upgraded to 4.2U, just my luck. Can I still softmod, is there a way to downgrade to 4.1U or do I have to buy a mod chip?

    no softmod yet.

Chip is your only option, unless you can wait for some clever people to sort a softmod solution out!

best to check with a modchip installer as it depends on which model of wii you have and exactly what you want it to be able to do

    Hello,
I have a brand new Wii that I bought today, my luck. My screw up was letting Wii update and now I have version 4.2U, can't softmod. I'm looking to play backups from dvd-r and hard drive. I also want to backup games I have and play dvds.

Thanks for your reply and help

Just await a softmod option. It won't be long.

Kind of a side note to the 4.2 update. But I was just curious if to know now that waninikoko's no longer working on the WII stuff dose anybody know if someone will be taking over his cios38 line or will it be changed to something else? Also any idea on if anyone will be releasing moddified updates like he did for 4.0 & 4.1? Now I realize from what I read 4.2 it dosent really have any purpose in fixing bugs just to fight against the softmods but for future updates that ever come out that do fix things. Sorry for all the random questions just having been paying alot of attention to whats been going on in the WII hacking for the last 2 months or so.

    same here.

there's another solution of course: you can always sell your updated wii and get another one.
