BootMii as boot2 is the ultimate brick protection and can recover you from 99.9% of bricks including full bricks but BootMii as an IOS can't do much. Just install boot2 then make a NAND Dump. If your wii was made before September 2008 then it should be able to put boot2.

Just run the program, it will tell you if you can install it as boot2 or not.

    Thank you both,

I ran the program and I can see that I have both options , I am going to install th2 boot 2 as you recomended, but I see some comment that I may not able to the wii menu since some wiis do not support the power / reset/ eject option.
I do not have the GC contler and afraid of losing access to the wii menu,

    please advise

sorry I forget to mention that I have the 4.1 U version

    thanks

You won't lose access to the Wii menu. If your power/reset buttons don't work you can just remove the bootmii files from the sd card and bootmii won't load so you will go right to the wii menu. Then when you have a GC controller you can just put the bootmii files back on the SD card and next time you turn on the Wii it will load bootmii.

    Dear all,

I have got a LU66 and IMO it will not support boot2, so what is the best way to take a backup for me in this situation?

Install as IOS and follow what it say's, make sure you have a Brand name SD card like Sandisk to backup Nand.

But Once I install it as IOS and if wii bricks, I will need HBC again to bootmi right? So how can I be able to open Wii channels and HBC if wii bricks?
