    Region frii bricking problem

    I downloaded the (regionfrii) RegionFrii v1.21 released - Nintendo-Scene

and i used it to turn wii sports resort pal in to an ntsc, then when i went to play it, it asked for an update, I have latest version of the wii, and i can play wii sports ntsc-j (as in the japan version) without an update.

my question is, should i update? and why would it ask me to, if i have the latest firmware, also i have a update blocker set to import (I use a hard mod called drivekey)

Please help, i have allot of problems with all pal games, and if i can get 1 to work, then i know i can get the rest to work. btw the problem with the pals, is when i load it it goes to a black screen.

and since theres a chance of bricking my wii please only say its cool if you SURE!

So let me get this straight.

You are asking if it's ok to update using an out of region game disc?

    The answer is NEVER.

Still I'd be suspicuous unless you know exactly what Regionfrii actually does to the game ISO. e.g whether it just changes a few bytes or replaces the update partition completely.

I still stand by my comment made in post number 2 seeing as you are using an out of region (or at least was) disc.

Why not just get the ntsc version and be done with it.

If you use preloader, i'm pretty sure you can disable a disc asking for updates

because its hard as hell to find ntsc versions for everything, yet i see like 1000's of rapidshare pals everywhere.

and i can't use torrents because there mad slow.

You can just use Gecko OS through homebrew channel to block any updates from any region for any discs (original or backup (backup discs through gecko require modchip)) but DON'T update using out of region discs, bricks the wii you own.
