I have drive key, comes with region update blockers.

thats why this is odd, it didnt block the update, yet it shouldnt need to update considering I played the jap version

also i tried the iso before i changed the rejoin and it just went to black screen.

    Let me explain.

Your drivekey did block the update, that's why you got the black screen. The game was calling for an IOS which you didn't have so it hung. The update was avoided perfectly.

You changed the region and now the drivekey sees it as 'in region' and will allow the update to be requested.

As previously pondered Regionfrii just changes a few bytes to fool the Wii into thinking it's running an In region game, this also fools your drivekey.

If you run the update you will get bricked.
