SD loading works now, I used wadmgr 1.3 and put the ios60 in the wad folder like I do for game wads. Just wasn't sure if that was the correct way for the ios60, thanks bro.

    --------------------------------

    question:
What's the process for playing wads STRAIGHT from the SD card if you have system menu 4.0?

From what I understand to be the current process you have to install the wads temporarily onto the Wii's memory first using Wad Manager, then move them back onto your SD card.

What I'm wondering is if there is a simpler way to just play the wads directly off of the SD card without using wad manager in the first place?

thats exactly what i do i install to wii memory then go into data management and move it to the sd i dont think there is any other way to do it. once you move them to the sd you can play them off of the sd whenever you want

with the trucha patched ios60, there is no need to copy games to the wii to play games w/ sys menu 4.0. to play them from sd, you must first install them to the wii's memory via wad manager like you have been doing. they are wads, wii can't play wad files...

ever look at the sd card once a game has been copied to the SD card? you'll see the %sd root%/private/wii/titles/ folder, and in it will be the game ID's nintendo has assigned for each game, and a content bin inside those folders. kind of like the bannerbomb, which has an ID of aktn.

so to answer your question, no you can't play the game from the SD as a wad file. install it, copy to SD and delete from wii. play and enjoy. unless Nintendo decides to incorporate wad support

Have you tried this? Did it work for you?
I had the same issue. Remove the Bannerbomb from the Card.
It will prevent the SD Channel from loading. You would need to remove the aktn folder under Private > wii > title > aktn and you should be good to go.

    =D

you won't know until you try, right? sometimes, sd card support can be a pain, especially if you are using a no name brand sd card. you may or may not experience issues. my old no name $.99 sd card worked great except for nand backups using bootmii i was so perplexed... new card, no problems. plus it's faster, i can't complain. $10-15 for a 4GB class 6 SD brand sd card is about average and works great.

anywho, use wad manager like every1 has suggested and install the game to the wii first, then just copy to sd. a wad is like what a setup.exe is to a pc: you install the game to the comp to unpack the files, then you may copy it elsewhere (to sd)

install the game and report back on your results.

edit: i almost forgot... in order to load "pirated" games from the sd card that have been preinstalled then transfered to sd, you'll need a patchedios60.wad. DOHCDragon (btw, does that stand for dual over head cam? i'm an automotive grad lol) use DOP-ios to patch all of you ioses, works like a charm to put the trucha bug into everything. make sure you use the newest dop-ios so that it knows to download the newest wii ioses and patch them on the fly and install them! awesome app so go and patch that ios60, install your wads, copy to sd.... and ENJOY!

ios60patched.wad is only a problem on a wii system with preloader already installed, i remember reading that numerous times in 4.2 softmod guides. if preloader isn't installed, then install patched60.wad and you'll be fine and then VC and wiiware games (pirated) can be played from the SD card. you'll be fine, go for it... but if you're afraid, then make a bootmii backup of your nand... EVERYONE should do that!!!!
