Hello,
my Wii came with Homebrew and a "Backup Loader" channel installed.
How do I find out which one and which version it is since there is only "Backup Loader Channel" written and a picture of a DVD-R.
Also, is it needed to update Homebrew once in a while or does it update itself ?

Well I can't tell by your description. How about a screen shot? When you launch a game thruough the channel what does it say I think it should say something about it....maybe. Perhaps a video would be better to see what you got. I'm sure someone who knows will give you a better answer for i dont know:(

Did you try with a backup DVD? Once you insert the disc, the dvd icon will spin and drop in the void. Image pop-up and hit on Start.
Seriously, the dvd starts spinning??
It's a custom channel not a Nintendo channel
BTW the image shows your backup channel
If you start it and then hold 1, you get more options.
you don't get directly to the options from that screen.
Just put in a disc. start the loader and put your originals in a safe and play our own made backups :)

no the disc will not spin, that only happens on the official disc channel. to find out what version you have try madworld, punch-out, i think maybe sonic and the black night, if you get 002 error you need to update that channel. check out wadder.net for custom channels, the gamma channel i have works flawlessly from that site. that hold 1 for options is meant to be used when you need to change options, but i have never got that to function properly, either on wii launcher or gamecube launcher. when you hit start hold 1 and you should get to the options for backup launcher that will tell you what version you have as well
can you take a screen of what it looks like after you hold 1?
