Wasabi wii not reading games / is a update needed?
Thanks for taking your time to read this and I hope it's in the right place
I got my wii modded over a year ago now I think?
After a long time of not playing it, I turned it on today to play my copy of monster hunter, which worked when I first got it, but now tells me it's unable to play disk and contact someone.
After going threw my folder of games I notice some work and some don't with my newest ones not playing, I used google and found out about the reset 3 times thing and gave that ago with different combos but it won't work, with some disks telling me they have a system update to do, is this safe to do so or will it brick the wii as I heard it would?
I'm sure the wii chip is a solder less plug and play chip and I know it's wasabi due to the 3 reset menu but how do I know what one and where can I get a firmware update for the chip if at all possible?
I was hoping to start up rune factor during my time off work but this is looking unlikely now :-(
Thanks to anyone that reads and takes the time to help and I really hope enough info is given and it isn't too painful to read.
If any info is needed let me know, due to typing this on a iPad I'm trying to keep it as short and sweet as possible because it's really annoying me
Thanks again for you time

Im not 100% Sure what Chip I have installed, All I know is if I press eject 3 times it takes me to the Wasabi screen where I use the Reset button to change and navigate within that menu, it doesnt have no info there as to what it chip is, is there a way I can find out?
The DvDs I use at the moment are TDK DVD-R
The software im using to burn games with is ImgBurn, and the highest speed I ever go for is x4.
By Domestic update, do you mean the update that comes on some of the burnt disks I have made?
And by updating to the same region as my wii, is that by doing an online update via the wii? will that be ok? and only playing PAL Games is fine by me as thats all I get.
Where can I get the chip FW Update?
Also somthing I cant understand is, how a game like Monster hunter worked when I first got it, but now wont have it?
Thank you again for your help
1/ Your chip is 1 of the wasabi chips... does not matter which one.
goto wasabi.net.cn and download the file for wasabidx and slowly burn to dvd ( tdk-use 2x speed).
pop it into your wii, follow prompts.. you wiimote will not work.. use the reset button after you clisk start with wiimote.
if it comes back with " no wasabidx or something like that", goto back to the wasabi siye and get the wasabi zero file and try that one... one of them WILL WORK, IF YOU ARE DOING IT RIGHT.
2/If you wii is pal and you only play pal games... then go online and update your wii.
3/ if some of your games don't work. problem is the brand of dvd's you used.
or
its your dvd drive laser is giving out because you were using non-recommended dvd's to play on your wii. Recommended are taiyo yuden or jvc branded taiyo yuden or verbatims. also made in japan is the most issue free.
a game dvd played before and not now? It is definitely a 3/ problem.
good luck!!!
