    Current Wii Menu version?

I've been doing some reading here, trying to get up to speed. Got some time today and some motivation to get this done. Been wanting to try NSMB but need an updated I believe.

I'm downloading Wasabi DX Upgrade Disc v3.0 ISO now and have a Wii 4.1u NTSC. What is the current Nintendo update version at now?

I can probably click the update button the the wii but Im afraid to click it and have it do something before I can update the Wasabi DX firmware to 3.0.

Anything I Should be aware of thats critical to know, just in case?

    HERE WE GO!

The disk update will take you to 4.1. Since you have that already, there may be another update involved, but it will not update your system menu to a higher version.

The current highest version is 4.2, but this will not allow you to play games that are out of your region, so it is not recommended to update via nintendo internet update.

There is a guide to get that game to work in the games section. This should include the steps to be taken for modchip users.

LOL - odd beat me to it....
    ------------------------------------

Current FW from Nintendo is 4.2

    Stay away from it... LOL
Dont update the wii past 4.1 right now... There is no need for you to update as 4.2 does nothing even though nintendo claims it does... LOL

Im not familiar with the WDX Chip but i know if you softmod as well you can block disc updates with priiloader and you will not have a problem loading games that require an update....

I only have NTSC backups for my NTSC machine. I have used WiiScrubber I believe it is called to block updates too, if I am remembering correctly that process. It's been a while, sorry.

I thought the NSMB needed something higher than 4.1u (which is what I have) to make this work. Or maybe I was needing the Wasabi 3.0 firmare update.

My Wii keeps telling me that there is an update available. Annoying, and I like having things updated but not at the risk of failure.

Ok i got some schooling on Hardmods.... LOL

If you dont have any softmods and the game is your region then you can take the update from the disk.... This goes for any game that may come up..... But for NSMB does require some special tweeks and listen to "odd" and look for the guide on it...

I've found the guide and I'll check out the info.

One bit of confusion, when you said UPDATE FROM DISK, isn't that update the same you would get if you updated from your Wii internet connection?

I just updated the firmware for the wasabi dx to 3.0 so I have that piece out of the way :-) Tested a couple backups, and they seem OK.

Look around in the games section as there may be another guide more specific to your modchip situation. I cannot remember if you need to patch the iso or not, but I think that you do. The writer of this guide was updating it as new info came in, but others have made threads that are of your same situation. So look thoroughly through the section.
