Wasabi DX worked great last week, unplugged it and now disc errors?

I don't get it. My Wii was working great with WasabiDX chip installed. I updated the Wasabi software to get the nsmb disc to work and I was on cloud nine! Played nsmb and tsm discs many times, no problems.

THEN the Wii got unplugged b/c our dvd player stopped working and we needed to reposition some stuff in our electronics cabinet. Plugged the Wii back in last night and now I get a disc error!

I wondered if the chip may have come loose, but the Wii start-up menu still appears, so it's apparently still connecting properly.

I've done a search and cannot find that anyone else has experienced this difficulty. I'm at a loss. Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.

Someone i know is having similar problems, but it's sporadic, sometimes the message comes up but after "ejecting, inserting, powering down and up" a few times it seems to work.

Could this be a dust issue also? It was on a carpet on top of the WII holder (to hold in vertical position).

What's the best method to clean it?

Edit: Just came across a youtube vid

Looks like i'll be trying that cleaner. HOWEVER, i've been told that the WII in question doesn't have the same error message as the one shown on that youtube vid, rather it's the black screen that asks you to restart the WII and in the vid it's still the WII menu screen just telling you the disc couldn't be read, nothing about restarting.

Do you have the issue with backups only, or with all game discs, including originals?

At the main screen of the Wii System Menu right after a boot of the Wii, try hitting eject 3 times to see if you can enter the Wasabi DX config screen (a Gamecube logo should appear in the disc channel, which you then load).

It sounds like a loose connection or maybe the modchip is not insulated correctly? Or perhaps one of the flat drive cables is bend? I would check the installation again to make sure everything is fine.
