(Wasabi DX) Wii wonīt play Backupīs

    Hello there,

iīve searched a lot in the last couple days, but i havenīt found a solution!

I have a Wii with 4.2E (serial LEH 2826... // Model RVL-001(EUR)) and installed the Wasabi DX (Switch 1 / 3 / 4 off Switch 2 ON), i can enter the Wasabi Menu (pressing Eject 3X), i can Play original games, but canīt play Backups.

Iīve tried a lot of DVDīs (Verbatim, Sony etc.) tried DVD-R / DVD+R.
I tried ImgBurn at 4x, Nero etc. none of it works!
It seems to me that the Drive only reads original Games and that it has nothing to do with the Wasabi DX!

When i throw in an original Game i can hear the Drive is reading the Disc, when i throw in a Backup it seems that the Drive is quickly stopping reading and then always shows me the message that there is an Error and that i should Power off and restart the Wii. I canīt update the Wasabi DX (should be the newest already FW, just bought it), i can only enter the Menu!

Is this caused by the Drive, the Wasaby DX is installed right (i have done it also with an older Wii and it worked just fine! Sadly not my own Wii :-()

Do i have to do something with the Drive?? Do I have to replace the Drive if this is possible??

Can anyone Help me with this please.

Thanks very much for yout Help.

Judging by your wii serial number youve probably got a D3-2 drive that is not compatable with WasabiDX,it only supports upto D3 drives.Ive got a WHITE Wii LEH2714 and thats a D3 drive.Only purchased last week so consider myself LUCKY.Only options are softmod or drive swap or drive board swap.Theres a seller on Ebay selling Wii drives that will sort you out @ Ģ38. if you want to swap drives. The softmod is your best bet and FREE, just follow the excellent tutorials on this site.I used ADEs softmod tutorial for 4.2E system menu.

    cheers

BTW I purchased a WasabiDX last week and had to upgrade the firmware to v2, I think they all ship with v1.2

Wasabi DX and Wii upgraded to 4.2u having issues...

I have a Wasabi DX installed on a Wii with a serial number starting with LU54...
I can play original games with no problems and Im even able to play a game called Rec Room that was burnt onto a DVD. But when i try to burn other games such as Mario and Sonic winter olympic games I get a black screen telling me to eject disc and turn wii off. Is there something I can do to get around this? I have no idea what I'm doing any help would be greatly appreciated.

Finally, got mine working...both NSMB and resort even...
    here is what I did:
    1. Burn an older game(like Rec Room) on several types of DVD-R media using imgburn @2.4x until one works (mine was finally Sony DVD-R )
    2. Now burn latest update for the Wasabi and install per instructions(3.0 currently)
    3. Let the NSMB disk update your Wii to 4.1
    4. Now burn other games @ 4x the same way(some may require patching ect but most will work)

OK, ive got a brand new Wii, Wasabi Dx installed and is not reading back ups. Have done all of the suggested and not working. It allowed me to do the 3 click eject menu page and that was fine.

I put the same chip in an older Wii drive and updated it to Firmware V3 and p-layed backups fine. However, when i put the chip in the newer Wii Drive with the updated firmware, it still wont play backups.

What Discs are you using for the back ups? Have been using Verbatim DVD- with no luck. This is a last resort test. As far as i can tell the Wasabi DX does not work on the newer drive Black edition Wii with no chipset!

Okay so I don't know anything about this... When you say let the NSMB update wii to 4.1-are you using an sd card? My wii is updated to 4.2u now and I haven't used a sd card. Not sure what to do, all I know is Rec Room is the only burnt game that will work. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Ive had a look up of your serial number and LU54 is probably a D2C which should be ok with wasabi.Im not too clued up on usa serials. The only thing I dont understand is why does a brand new black wii have this older drive in it.I would reopen the wii and check for any writing on the wii drive chip to be sure.System Menu 4.2 only allows backups from same region as console. You dont need to downgrade from 4.2 to 4.1.
Sounds like your not burning disks correctly
