Probably because it is the first thing that comes to mind whenever someone loads a game to a black screen. Are your games patched to ios249 stomp?

I also have not installed any ios, except ios53 for nsmb, but it did not help me load the game.

I never patch a game to run on USB Loader, in fact, I think it is recommended to not install patched games to USB Loader. I'm checking something, I did accept a disc update from the Guitar Hero Metallica retail disc, so perhaps some of my IOS's were updated.

I tried forcing the NTSC setting on the loader but got the green screen. I really can't seem to have these PAL games working (Resident Evil and House of the Dead) on wasabi dx or gecko os. When I load it through disc channel all I got was black screen. I have 3.4u, wasabi dx 2.0 f/w. Wadmanager 1.4.My select IOS version is defaulting to <IOS36>. Then I see the cIOS249-IOS36-rev.07 wad. Any ideas ??

Green screen is a step in the right direction, keep fiddling with those settings. Also, you have a chip right? What happens when you load from the disk channel.

My firmware is 3.2U and the update on GH Metallica is 3.1 v4, so my firmware did not get updated but something did get updated, wonder what?

Don't use cIOS36 rev7, if you load from disc use cIOS36 rev8 or higher. I stuck with cIOS36 rev10 for a long time, until cIOS38 rev14 was released.

I tried forcing the NTSC setting on the loader but got the green screen. I really can't seem to have these PAL games working (Resident Evil and House of the Dead) on wasabi dx or gecko os. Quit screwing with them out of region games. I get a month long membership at blockbuster for 30 and some odd dollars to have 2 games out at a time, take them back in a few hours and check out 2 more, but never more than 4 games per day (my choice), for a whole month. Fills up the HDD pretty quick and all games are ripped from retail, no wondering if it was a bad download or bad ISO, any game I ever rip works, can't say the same for downloads.

I have a wasabi dx f/w 2.0, wii 3.4u. If I load from the disc channel, it will show the icon and after that black screen. I'm not using any usb loader. If I load from gecko os, force ntsc, then green screen. However I was able to load Punch Out, Wii Sports Resort, Wii Fit Plus, M&S Olympic Winter Games (all PAL) with no problems at all through disc channel.

It still sounds like an ios issue.
If the game is un-scrubbed, try to temporarily disable the update block on the wassabi and load the game in Gecko OS, if there is an ios on the disk you need Gecko should prompt you to install it, but should skip the system menu update. Do not load it from the disk channel with the block turned off.

Never update your system menu from an out of region disk.

It is ok to update the ios through gecko, the ios have no region. Gecko will see you need the ios and let you install it, but it will bypass the system menu update on the disk. For that to work the disk must contain the update partition, and the update block must be disabled on the wasabi. Also use the latest version of Gecko Os.

I've finally get the RE Archives working. I was able to get hold of an NTSC copy, works like charm in my wasabi dx even the GH Metallica. I'm not sure though why is it not reading the PAL version. I have other PAL games working though.
