    Wasabi DX Acting Very Weird!!!

    Hi Guys,

I seem to be having a problem with my recently purchased Wasabi DX and i was wondering if anybody had any ideas about how to sort these problems out.

I installed the chip as per the instructions i was given and also found on the net, the chip works fine at playing original games and backup copies when selected from the wii disc channel. Unfortunately i cant seem to update the chip, when i burn the 1.2 update disc from wasabi it appears as a game cube game in the disc channel, it loads up to the first screen where it says "press reset to start programming" and then it locks up. At this point both red and green leds are lit and they stay that way until the wii is turned off when it once again plays backups and originals. I have burnt the disk on Verbatim -R twice and have even tried it in recovery mode with dip switch 4 set to on but with no luck.

The other problem i seem to be having is accessing the configuration menu. when i press eject 3 times nothing happens at all other than all the leds on the chip turning off, it doesn't put the disc in the disc channel either

I hope someone has some ideas what could be wrong, as i'm tearing my hair out here because i'm trying to use the chip to fix my other banner bricked wii but i need to enable the autoupdate first

    Thanks in advance

    Jamie

That is hard to say. I think your big problem is the settings- those should work. Only thing I can say is double check your dip switches. Then keep trying the setup. It could just be an issue with your timing. I believe you need to remove the disk from the wii, turn it off and back on, then push eject 3 times or until the game cube screen appears.

For the disk, what speed did you burn it and did you verify it.

Where did you purchase the wasabi, from wiihacks sponsor or else where?

    Thanks for the reply,

I bought it from Wii Chip | Wii Modchips | Nintendo Ds Chip | Xbox 360 Modchips | Xbox 360 Ixtreme but only because they promised to send it quickly, but then they decided not to

i've managed to get into the settings now, but it just locks up and wont toggle the settings or move down the selections. it's all very strange because like i said it works perfectly for playing games but just not for anything else

Right ladies and gentlemen i'm going to announce my stupidity for all the world to see (and hopefully help anyone else who's as simple as me)

all listed problems have been fixed by the totally amazing feat of clipping the front panel back on!!!! :P

i shit you not, because i had the wii in pieces because the chip wasnt staying in that wii i was pressing the actual buttons with the end of the screwdriver which was causing it not to work.

So there we have it everyone i have officially given up any ounce of technical ability i may have possesed for all eternity!!!!

as a side question though am i mis-understanding the whole concept of "Autoboot"??? when i put a wii game in it doesn't auto start (which i kind of need it to do to try and fix my banner bricked wii) it just shows in the disc channel like it always does.

    Excellent
I don't think I would have thought of that.

the autoboot is not enabled by the maker
you must go into the config menu of the wasabidx and turn it on

or autoboot enabled chips are also available

    Thanks for the reply,

the issue i was having was once i had enabled it through the configuration it didn't seem to be autostarting the discs once i'd put them in, but it seems it only autoboots backup copies (i don't know if this is common knowledge or not).

anyway everything seems ok with the actual chip now, i have put it in my broken wii but i still have a specific issue with it (i'm going to post about that in a different area though)

thanks again for taking the time to reply, its much appreciated

    Jamie

P.S I don't know if you want to close this thread now or not, the specific problems relating to this thread are gone now (after i used my brain)
