ben3, the whole point is that people is trying to play the game WITHOUT having to softmod/install homebrew on their Wii. I'm on the same page - I bought a modchip in order to play games without having to mess with the Wii firmware at all.

Unfortunately, for now, it is just not possible to play NSMB with a hardmod/modchip only. This is the same for any modchip out there. I have a DriveKey myself (and no softmods) and same problem. I guess a lot of modchip owners are holding their breath right now waiting to see if updates for the modchips come out. Otherwise our modchips may not be very useful when it comes to future game releases!!

Tried with Neogamma R8 ver 7 and R8 beta 12, with your patch and without, with new stiched boot.dol and without, and using Dopios to change my 56 CIOS, downgraded and upgraded, both with Trucia (sp.). On the main disk channel I get a black screen and then after 4 seconds, it goes back to the main screen. With both Neogammas, I get green for about 4 seconds and then slashes through the screen of blue with green and then back to the main screen. When I load through sd, I get the green screen, but then it works, I have played it for about 8 hrs so far with no luck.

For everyone else just wanting to wait, this is a really good game, it is SMB3 on steriods!

And now I have 7 coasters!

For some reason I doubt that modchip makers can completely sidestep the softmod issue. The problem lies in nintendo's constantly updating system menu software, not in the modchips. If they actually used Nintendo firmware to emulate new system menus (and included that with the chip or distributed it as an update) they would move out of the legal grey area modchips are in and be downright illegal as they'd be copying Nintendo's software.

Unfortuantely, the only way to get the game working is with some sort of softmod. I have a guide for the Zero that may work for you (the problem lies in the software, not the modchip, but I can't vouch for it working on the DX since I don't have one!). If it does work, it will run from the disc channel afterwards, no backup loader needed. You could even delete the homebrew channel after following the guide, but I wouldn't recommend it in case another new game needs to have the system menus tinkered with. Don't think of using homebrew as a full softmod, think of it as simply updating the Wii system files manually. That's all I use the homebrew channel for myself.

Let me know in my guide thread if the guide worked on a DX, as other people would be interested.

Thanks for the feedback but I doubt this will work with a DX. I have already downgraded the 53 IOS and added trucia, and it didn't work, patched or not patched. I also tried to use the same batch file you recommended before, even renaming my .iso, and I always get a 0 byte .iso.

With all of the new tips, and they are changing daily, I gave up on trying to run it from the disk channel. I have already made 7 coasters trying different methods, as they say, leave a sleeping dog lie.

I am on a 4.1u Wii I bought six months or so ago. I have 0 interest in dedicating the time and brain power towards soft modding this unit. I CAN do it, I just have no interest in dedicating the time to do it.

Hence, why people like me bought something like the WasabiDX.

So anything in this modchip wasabi forum to me, and wasabidx users, that is posted about making something work with some piece of software is not helpful.

I have not updated. I have 20 or so games my kids can play that they still like to play so its not the end of the world if I have to wait.

That being said, I was looking forward to NEW SUPER MARIO BROTHERS on the Wii. Even Dad likes to play games, maybe more than the kids but I'll have to just wait this one out and see if the WasabiDX gets an update.

    Cheers to all :-)

Nobody in this forum gets paid to help out, and definately doesn't need your pitty flame message about being iritated that someone discussed software.

If you are really that great, go spend $55 and buy the stupid game.

Lets not get into a pee'n into the wind contest here over this. I have no problem buying any game, as I have plenty of times. I'm just NOT in a hurry for NSMB. But as a forum admin in other areas I can appreciate keeping a forum, or a thread within topic.

This is the forum, and a thread for the WasabiDX hard mod is it not? This thread is about "wasabi dx problems with new mario brothers game" is it not?

It does not irritate me really, but its not helpful to others that come to this forum or this post looking for information on the hardmod/wasabidx and find people talking about the softmods. There are other forums for that here.

I don't think anyone, including myself wants to get into a contest on it.

If you are a forum mod on this forum (which it doesn't show), or another, why oh why would you mindlessly rant on with your first post, rather than just post, "please keep forum on topic, do not discuss software".

Also I will help you out, there has been more than one game where people have had to modify their IOS to make the Wasabi chip and the newer DX work. Well you can take your chance updating from the disk or do it as you would say "software". They go hand in hand.

I must say in the end i went down the softmod road, my wasabi dx worked like a charm up until i could not update to 4.2 or get the new mario working. I think the wasabi dx was a good chip but it's been a while and still no update which i think looks like grey clouds on the horizen for us mod chip owners

Besides playing you game's of a hd ,dont half save's you some disc's

I was very worrierd about softmodding, that's why i went down the wasabi dx road but if all thoses guys/gals who put a chip in there wii ,im sure they can put some nice softmod's on there wii. And if the updates come for the chips then it's the best of both worlds. Happy days

    new firmware wasabi dx 3.0

    Hi all,

Yesterday I downloaded the 3.0 BETA firmware from Wasabi site, upgraded the chip, and tried NSMB. Works!!!! ....for a few minutes.
Luckily I did not tell my kids yet, or they would have been so mad ;-)

Anyone have a solution for a game that works only for a few minutes?
