Guitar Hero 5 Black Screens, Do I need to update to 4.0?

Basically I've got a copy of guitar hero 5, but as soon as I choose to start the game it crashes the wii and the screen goes black.

On [Only Registered Users Can See Links. Click Here To Register] it says that in order to sort out the black screen I need to update my wii. Do I need to update the wii to version 4.0 to get it to work? If so how can I update it safely?

Edit: After reading some more posts it seems that simply re-enabling the auto-updater and then updating the wii's firmware through the guitar hero 5 disc should sort it out, the disc is PAL so it shouldn't (fingers crossed) brick my wii. Will post the results asap.

^^ Just updated to firmware 4.0 through guitar hero and the game now works perfectly, so to anyone else having problems with GH5 or any games, follow that link in my previous post to sort it out
